About Me

I just graduated from the University of Georgia with a major in biological science and a minor in studio art. I’m currently backpacking across Europe and plan to attend medical school in Arizona in July.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a great way to experience a place in a genuine way through an individual who happens to be an expert! Hoping to use this app more in the future to connect with new individuals and make friends— for my travels and hosting people in my city!

Friendships from around the world are so meaningful because you get to experience an individual who might have had a completely different upbringing than you. It’s important to seek out relationships with those who can offer a different view of the world and give you a new perspective. In this way, we can grow to understand our fellow humans and have compassion for those different than us.

Interests

I like to paint and build sculptures out of recycled materials and trash! I love the ocean and most all animals. My art serves to open a dialogue with my community about consumption and waste production. It prompts the viewer to consider the effect of their trash in our oceans. I’d love to show you some pictures and discuss the matter further!

Music, Movies, and Books

Really into William Onyeabor lately! I also enjoy King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, the Gorillaz, Fleetwood Mac, and Donovan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I work in a microbiology lab and take care of 8 bioluminescent squid. I’m their mama and I feed and take care of them every day (when I’m not traveling). It’s a tedious job but immensely rewarding.

I also recently took a road trip across the southern United States. I drove from Georgia to California and really enjoyed watching the landscape change and the colors and plants along with it. It was so fun to find little pockets of culture and diversity within my home country. Sleeping under the stars and meeting new friends brings memories I’ll keep for a lifetime.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to learn about new recipes and the culture in the places I travel. I like to discover new locations on my own by walking around and stumbling upon nice places to sit by bodies of water or interesting museums I might not have heard about. In Berlin, I stumbled upon the Museum of Medical History and it was one of the coolest (and creepiest) experiences I had there. I highly recommend it!

In May, I plan to stay in a Spanish immersion school in Spain! I hope to practice my Spanish and become more proficient in it! My biggest regret in life is that my Honduran father did not teach me the language as a child, however, I am hoping to be bilingual by the end of the year. Learning other languages allows you to connect with an entirely new demographic of individuals and I can’t wait to keep learning them throughout my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share fun conversation ! Possibly at a picnic in the park! I love to talk about family and space and the ocean.
