About Me

Hi there :)
My name is Beatriz and my friends usually call me Pampi. I recently graduated with a masters in biomedical engeneering in Lisbon (where I grew up), together with my boyfriend, Pedro, whom I lived with in a tiny studio. Pedro is from Madeira, one of Portugal's most beautiful and nature rich places. I also lived there for five years when I was little.
After finishing our studies, we decided to take a gap year and pursuit our long dream of traveling. Fortunatly, the universe smiled us and we won a contest with a traveling scolarship! We are going to India, Sri Lanka and Nepal during 10 months!!! We really want to meet new people and connect with the cultures that we are visiting, and there's no better way than couchsurfing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The people make the places. We believe that if you want to have an authentic instead of touristic experience while traveling you should meet and get to know locals. You can't get the essence of one place that your visiting if you don't get to know and really engage with people. That is the best part! So that's why we decided to experience couchsurfing. We are very exited and hope to get to know amazing people and be inspired by crazy life stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last summer we both participated in CISV summer camps in the Netherlands as leaders. CISV is an institution of volunteers that educates for peace through cultural exchange. There are several programs for children from the age of 11 up to 18 to participate in international summer camps with children from other countries during one month. The activities of the camp are all focused in promoting peace and showing that no matter where we came from, we are all the same. As leaders, each of us took four portuguese eleven year olds to different camps in the Netherlands, where whe had a blast for one month and made friends from America to Japan. It was an amazing learning experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

We believe that we never stop learning in our life and people (sometimes the most unexpected) are the ones who teach the most. We hope that our view of the world can be inspiring and worth remembering for someone but, more importantly, we hope to learn from peoples's stories and life experiences. We would love to meet people who have great traveling experience so we could learn from them :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love a good conversation and the opportunity to get to know people better. We can also promise to share our good mood and bright smile, as well as a helping hand cooking or washing dishes during our stay (Pedro is and excellent cooker!!! he is vegan and he cooks everything divinely).
