About Me

Hi everyone!

I'm Sophie / Zsófi, a native Hungarian girl who was born and raised in Serbia. (confusion begins: here 😄)

CURRENTLY: Traveling as a lifestyle.
I finished university (studied Community Coordination in Budapest Business School), quit my job, moved out of my apartment for good, and I left everything behind so I can go explore the world like a free bird. I am traveling with 2 backpacks, and my dog-shaped pillow, who is my travel doggo, his name is Rufus (he is usually traveling with me everywhere)

I'm very communicative and I make friends easily (confirmed by friends too hahah✅)

A few of my other passions are singing ( I'm a hobby-cover singer, I'll link my YouTube channel, so you can check it out) and cooking, baking, especially for other people. So if you will host me, I'll be happy to let you try one of my vegetarian/vegan specialties, you'll not regret it:)

I love to travel solo, and I like to stay at other people's places as it's a more authentic way of traveling, and I love to pay back the generosity by cooking for them:) And since I'm not working at the moment, low-budget traveling is the way I prefer it😊I also do workaway from time to time, when I want to stay at a country for a bit longer time and experience it more like a local. :)

I love hiking, swimming, eating, cycling,... I've been a scout since 2007 and I also danced Hungarian folk dance for 10 years.
I worked abroad a few times. I was an au pair in Germany, a tourist/kids entertainer in different hotels in Bulgaria (on the seaside) and on the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Lanzarote) and I took care of mostly German and British kids), I was also a waitress in a small restaurant in my hometown, and then a bartender in Budapest, but I also did occasional jobs in Budapest as a hostess, a babysitter or a gardener.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just love that this site gives us an opportunity to connect with amazing persons (personalities, perspectives, ways of thinking, culture,..) and have random, amazing trips together, unforgettable experiences.

( like in July 2023, I just randomly met 3 people in the kitchen of a hostel I was staying at, and while drinking coffee together in the morning, we decided that we will do a road trip together on that same day, exploring the southwest part of Mallorca, which turned out to be the most amazing, adventurous day trip that Ive had in awhile.)

I'm looking forward to meeting as many adventurous, kind, and interesting people from here as possible :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Once I've translated the words of the Princess of Liechtenstein, in her castle in Vaduz. ( German-Hungarian)
- I sang in a Hungarian Rock-Opera in front of ~6000 people. :)

And: I just edited my profile. Before, this was my introduction: "One of my biggest passions is traveling, and one day maybe it will even become a lifestyle. All of my friends know me as a person who can never stay in a country for long years, I always just want to travel, move abroad, fly like a bird. (I have a tattoo that represents that as well:) )" :
And now, look at my introduction and you will understand why am I proud of myself... :)))
