Hey, I'm a student doing an M.A. in linguistics in Boğaziçi University. I'm bit of an ambivert mostly. I find meeting new people all the time somewhat intimidating or unpleasant but travellers are temporary, so hosting a traveller or meeting a host as a traveller myself feels fine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel here and there either for conferences and summer schools, or for pleasure and visiting friends. So I often need to find somewhere to stay for a few days wherever I end up going and I'd rather stay in a local's house, maybe learn more about the country and the culture there from them. I would also love to host other travellers in my place, to make their time in İstanbul a little bit easier and to meet new poeple from all around the globe. I live by myself in a rather small flat, but I do have space for one person (maybe two if people bring sleeping bags or they don't mind sleeping on a very tiny couch) if someone needs a place to crash for a few days in İstanbul.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite musician is Björk. Other than her, I really like Imelda May, Kovacs and L.P. I also like listening to Apocalyptica, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Tyr, Turisas, Korpiklaani and The Dropkick Murphies.
I'm not much of a movie person though I do like a lot of series such as Doctor Who, , Shameless, Black Mirror, Orange is the New Black, Better Call Saul, Rick and Morty. Some other shows I watched and loved in the past are Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad, Black Books, Dexter, HIMYM, House M.D.
I really like reading fantasy fiction, big fan of Tolkien and Ursula le Guin books. I've really enjoyed the Forgotten Realms series. Huge Harry Potter fan. Other than fantasy fiction, I mostly prefer informative books that fall into the categories of different fields of science and history. Though, I rarely get to read something for pleasure nowadays since I have to do a lot of academic reading during school semesters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiking back to Belgrade when I was stuck (well lol denied entry) at the Croatian border (which I hadn't intended to cross in the first place) and finding myself a bus with the correct route this time to arrive on time for a summer school in Bosnia without totally losing my shit in the process.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people about linguistics, Turkish langauge, life in Turkey (for İstanbul and İzmir). I'm interested in practising more German. I've been learning Turkish Sign Language. I'm also interested in learning more about the local history, culture and the local language spoken wherever I travel to, as well as the local cousine.
