We are two friends - Jan and Tomas - from the Czech Republic.
My name is Jan Zvoníček. I am 19 years old, but soon will turn to 20. I come from a small, but really beautiful town called Kroměříž, which not so far from Brno, the second largest Czech city. It is famous for the Archiepiscopal Chateau and two gardens. That is why this town is inscribed into the UNESCO list of the World Cultural Heritage. Nevertheless, I commute everyday to the regional city Zlín for the high school. This May, I am going to do my school leaving exam and then I am applying for two universities in Prague. University of Economics – where I would like to study the field of International Commerce with the focus on Asian countries. My second university is Charles University. I really like reading books, because I love to be completely immersed into the plot, then I really like studying foreign languages. I am studying English, French, Chinese and also Italian! I have basics of Russian and German languages. I am practicing also Orienteering which is a kind of run in the forest with a compass, map and a chip. I like also listening to the music and exploring new countries, cultures and people.

I am Tomáš Halaška and I am gonna be soon 20 as well. I come from a city called Zlin which is famous owing to its developer and founder of a giant shoe company Tomáš Baťa. Zlin is one of two cities in the Czech Republic with a rare architectural style Functionalism. I study the same grammar school as Jan and as both of us are interested in studying kind of International relations, we applied for two universities in Prague including the Charles University. Our interestes proves the fact, that Jan and I took part in a Prague Student Summit in a simulation of UN as representatives of DR Congo in different field of politics. We are also interested in studying languages. I speak Czech, English, German and a bit of Chinese. This knowledge enables us to travel all around the world and we already have visited together Monaco, Gran Canaria and Barcelona in Spain, Andorra la Vella in Andora, Paris, Strasbourg and Carcassonne in France and Beijing in China. This summer we would love to explore Italy as it is a country with one of the longeest history in the world and owing to its monuments. We plan to spend there approximately 1 month and travel from the North to the South.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In all countries we visited, we had enough time to get to know with local people and it is a priceless experience. We realised that spending time with local people helps us to understand their culture and lifestyle and gives us another point of view on different issues as well as we may introduce them a bit of Czech culture and lifestyle. Recently, we discovered the site of Couchsurfing and we find it amazing! Unfortunately, we are new here, and that is why we have not accommodated and we have not been accommodated yet thus have no references so far. Music, Movies, and Books

Jan - I like all kinds of music which is played in the radios right now. My favourite singers are Katy Perry, Lady Gaga but I do not refuse any other artist. I listen to the Italian, French as well as Chinese music. As for movies, I really like the Harry Potter series and Lord of the Rings. My favourite books are The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Animal Farm - where the author truly depicted the situation of an socialist country, Of Mice and Men, Harry Potter book series, The Hobit and others..

Tomáš - I like almost all sorts of music except of hard rock, metal or punk. I love concerts and I am gonna attend concert of Imagine Dragons this April for the second time. Anyway, I am huge fan of Adele. I listen to her since I was 12 and I attended her tour, first in Belgium in Antwerp and then I was in London for her 2 last concerts, however, sadly she canceled them. I was quite sad but I enjoy my trip to London anyway.
I am not that keen on books but I read sometimes. I like history the most and that is why I read magazines focused on some topics such an the Worl War II, ancient Egypt, Rome or Greece.
