About Me
A music loving chatterbox.
I'm a professional musician - Vocalist (Jazz, Blues, Soul) and go under the name Lucy Mae (just in case you wanted to check us out ;) - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7UvBejSOv5zterLgZG5KHQ ).
I love to travel, it's my favourite thing about life - the freedom. I'm half Spanish, my dad is from Galicia, he has always spoke Spanish to me but somewhere in my youth I became embarrassed and self conscious when I spoke it (Why?! Who knows!) so now my spoken Spanish is broken, but I'm working on it. I can read and understand it a lot better!
Currently in the middle of trying to travel the world as much as possible and live a peaceful, happy and creative life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have never been able to host due to our past flats/houses having absolutely no space at all. Spare rooms are taken over by music equipment most of the time! However a good friend of mine is a massive couchsurfer enthusiast and has been heavily involved in the community for a long time, I have couchsurfed with him and it has always been a wonderful experience! Whenever I go travelling, I have been blessed enough to have a friend, or friends of friends to stay with in that particular country, however the more I expand my travelling the more I want to use couchsurfing for what it's there for - to meet other people - other travellers, and those local to the country I am in.

Music - I'll give anything a go but my heart lies with the likes of - Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse, The Cinematic Orchestra, Akua Naru, Louis Armstrong, Aretha Franklin...etc. There are also some amazing unsigned artists around Manchester - Skeltr, Ask My Bull, Honeyfeet - check them out.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
*Becoming a professional vocalist has been the highlight. It was hard but is now my full time career with my wonderful band and I couldn't feel more blessed :) It's taken us to some amazing places/venues and festivals and we have met some of the most wonderful people.
* Travelling to Vietnam for the first time. It was the Summer of 2015, my boyfriend is half Vietnamese so we stayed with his family over there. To have such a real experience of such a gorgeous country was mind blowing!! We also went over last Summer and played some gigs, that was fantastic.
* Earlier this year my mother and I walked 130KM of El Camino De Santiago for my 30th birthday (with Luc and my father driving "the way"). It was such a personal week for us as we walked through Galicia where my father is from, giving me a real insight to not only that part of Spain but also where my heritage and paternal line stems from.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, jam sessions are always welcome, discovering new artists and music, so if you are a creative, stuff like that is always wonderful to share!
As i'm learning Spanish and French at the moment, I'm more than happy to do a language swap with you if you want to brush up on English!
Other than that, just talking over a few beers and sharing stories is my favourite thing to do.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If ever you want to visit Manchester I can find you somewhere to crash, our current house is slightly bigger now so we may even be able to put you up! If not us though, definitely a friend. Our group is a wonderful community full of wonderful and kind people!
I will always offer a helping hand with whatever you need also - cleaning, groceries etc.
If ever you just want a chat, or an ear to listen, I can always provide that for you too.
