Overview
About Me
I am an arts practitioner and travel enthusiast living and working in London. I love exploring new places and meeting the people who live there. Learning about the place I'm in is one of the most important things for me about travel, and history, art and food are my biggest travel enthusiasms. A day spent ambling around museums, on walking tours and eating amazing food in great company is my idea of travel bliss! I am pretty introverted, and usually after a busy day of sightseeing I like nothing more than to chill out with my hosts over and shared meal and then curling up with my book.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Through the summers of 2014 and 2015, I spent a total of six months travelling across Italy with the Theatre in Education company A.C.L.E. This involved teaching English to Italian school children at weekly summer camps, and each week I would live with a different host family. Living with host families was one of the best parts of my ACLE experience. They welcomed me into their homes, giving me a taste of what it was really like to live in Italy, fed me incredible food, showed me their country from their perspective, and welcomed me into their hearts. I learned to be a thoughtful and considerate house guest, and have even returned to stay with two of the families for holidays!
This was a far richer experience than staying in hotels or hostels would have been, and when I'm in a position to host guests of my own, I hope to be able to so the same for them.

Music, Movies, and Books
I couldn't possibly choose a favourite book, I'll read anything! I actually keep a list of the books I've read (I'm a nerd like that) and in 2017, I read 46 books. Hence the impossibility of choosing a favourite.
My favourite film at the moment is 'About Time', with Domnhall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams.
In terms of music, I like anything relaxing and 'sunshiney' - Xavier Rudd, Jack Johnson, Jamie Cullum
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
'Il Volo Dell'Angelo!' When I lived in Italy, a bunch of other teachers and I went into to Lucane Dolomites to do 'The Flight of the Angel'. This is a zip-wire strung between two mountains... I flew with my colleague Lucy, it was incredible! (I'm not usually much of an adrenalin junkie and this is as close as I'll ever get to a skydive, but I would absolutely do it again!)
Teach, Learn, Share
If my host is looking to improve their English, I am a CELTA qualified English teacher and have experience of preparing students for all of the major Cambridge English exams. I can also teach you how to knit, if you're keen! I would like to learn how to crochet (can't seem to get the hang of it) and am always keen to pick up whatever I can of the country I am in.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a good cook, and I love to relax over a shared meal after a busy day of sightseeing. If I'm staying with friends for free I will always cook for them to say thank you, and will be more than happy to share the British, Italian and Indian recipes I have learned on my travels and through my work with my couchsurfing hosts :).
