About Me
Hi! I am a Chilean Engineering student of 22 years old. I'm soon going to make an exchange experience on the University of Hong Kong and I want to previously travel around Europe. I'd TOTALLY love to meet new people and places. I'm very friendly, I speak english pretty well and spanish (my native language). Also, I play the guitar and I love music.
A bit of my story... I left home at 18 because of my studies and since then I've been living in an apartment with my sister. Because of that I have experience on housework (yes, including bathroom cleaning haha!). My native city is to the south of Chile (I encourage you to go). I lived next to the Bio Bio river, the widest of Chile. Although it wasn't a "town", it was a small and friendly city. Coming to Santiago (the capital city of Chile) was quite a big change in my life. I switched from having a quiet life to having tiring mornings, traveling in public transport to go to my university, etc. However, I've learned enough for being an independent young man and be responsible for myself.
In the last few years, new horizons have been shown to me. Through the people I've met, the places I've visited and the experiences I've had, I have discovered the world. That's one of the reasons for having a Workaway experience.
Although I'm not an extrovert person and I'm not into having tons of friends, I am a friendly and unprejudiced and I like to know people in a non - shallow way. This time, in my trip through Europe, I'd like to not a have a "zapping" travel. I want to get a little more deeply into places and people.
As to music, I started playing the guitar about 8 years ago. My teacher at school taught me to play latinamerican flolklor. When I started my university studies I kind of left playing at that standard; anyway, I still play a lot. I'm not an expert, but I have the talent to pick up songs by listening to them and it is not hard for me to play popular and well-known songs. In any case...I love it. A story about that: a couple of years ago I went backpacking with a friend of mine to the north of Chile. We were carrying with us a couple of guitars and, as we traveled, we played into public places to get some money. We actually didn't spend a lot of money.
I have another amateur abilities, such as experience on labor, because of going to volunteering. I also like to teach and I have taught school subjects to children, including English.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I think that at least half of a trip experience is made of the people we meet. The cultural exchange is beneficial for all of the people that interact with each other.
We live in a globalized world and we cannot waste the chances that it gives to us.
I think that I have a lot to learn and some of me to give, and this is space to do it.
And of course, I think that there is no better to way to visit a place but with a local. I'm glad that someone here would be my host, as I'd be in my city.
