Overview
About Me
Always interesting to meet new people, isn't it? My name is Jonathan and I am from the Netherlands. I think travelling is all about hearing and sharing stories. I have stories to share, and I hope you do too!
Further do I like to read and write. I will not party until the early morning, but can enjoy some drinks. I rather wake up early, and walk around in a new city, or a new place and learn whatever it has to offer.
In the last year I have travelled a bit, I got to know some people, did some volunteering abroad and learnt some things about life. I think learning is one of the most important things in life and cannot be completed in a lifetime.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing does provide a way to really get to know a particular country and its culture. Only by meeting and speaking with the locals in an opportunity to reach the gems of a city and gives a taste of the local culture, as opposed by the culture showed by tourist agencies. There are always elements bound to surprise!
Hosting people can bring you in contact with amazing new people with wonderful stories to tell. It gives you knowledge about subject you did not know anything about. It also provides and opportunity to learn new languages.
And perhaps, just perhaps, Couchsurfing can be the start of long-lasting friendships and great creativity

Music, Movies, and Books
I do mainly read books about history or philosophy, or novels from the last few centuries. Many of the boo
But I am definitely open to new things! The same counts for movies. If someone does advice me to watch a new movie, I am definitely going to watch it somehow, or at a certain time.
My taste of music is really broad. I do listen to many different kinds of music and I am most interested to learn about new types of music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent seven months as a volunteer in Romania in a project aiming to create and implement school lesson-programs.
Teach, Learn, Share
It is really easy to create a world view that is too narrow. I think every person has the ability to counter this, but constantly trying to renew oneself. This can be done by doing new things and step outside of what you think are your own interests. A way to do this is to read totally new books and watch totally new movies. I like to take recommendations from other people. If someone advices me to read something, I will try to do it. (of course, it might take some time before I can do this). Sometimes, one should not only do what he thinks is best, but also try new things. I do not know whether there is an ultimate truth, but if it does, there must be many different ways to reach it!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share wonderful histories with my guests: history is a great interest of me. Every city and culture has stories connected to it, and I will try to uncover these.
Who hosts me, can expect a discussion about life and life-stories. The sharing of experiences in a friendly manner. Not to convince the host of political or social views, but more for the sake of learning new things.
