I am a young woman traveling around Latin America in hopes to improve my Spanish skills as well as immerse myself in the culture! I am adventurous and outgoing yet very much a planner. I love the outdoors whether it be hiking, camping, fishing, or just hanging out at the beach or a lake. Obviously most of us who enjoy travel enjoy learning about new places and people, but I truly do enjoy every little difference that cultures have to offer; whether it be how we celebrate big holidays, what schools are like, how family meals work, and what a typical Saturday is like in that area I think it is fascinating to see how different people live life. Before leaving for this 5 month travel adventure with my boyfriend Kieran, I was working at a local high school as a teacher's assistant in the ELL department. I worked primarily with students who had been in the United States for less than two years. I went to their classes with them, helping them with their studies and English and also translating for them when they needed it. I was also a coach at the high school for volleyball and basketball!

I’m very excited to try out couchsurfing because I think it is such a unique way to experience a new place and connect with local people of the area you are visiting!
The best part of travel is the connection you are able to make with others; what a good way to do that by getting to stay with someone from the area you are visiting!
Also once back at home hosting others would be a great way to give back, but also a manner in which you can continue learning about other cultures without leaving home!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I’m not a music fanatic by any means, but I do enjoy it as most people do! I like almost all types and am happy to listen to any new recommendations :) Usually I listen to country and pop.
Movies and books I love. They are both such a great way to be able to relax and engulf yourself in a new world. I really enjoy mysteries, romance, and comedy! Every now and then a good thriller is fun, but nothing too gory! Some of my favorite books are by the authors Preston and Child, but I also enjoy a good Nicholas Sparks novel. Some of my favorite movies include all the Harry Potters, Batman Begins, and romantic comedies like She's the Man or 27 dresses.

As you read earlier I previously worked in a high school and was also a coach. I love helping people and seeing them really understand something or perform better because of your assistance is such a rewarding thing. But as much as I was the teacher and coach, those kids were always teaching me new things. I learned about different cultures, traditions, ways to teach, and ways to learn.
I think we can all continuously learn from those around us if we choose to. And we grow from what we learn :)
