Overview
About Me
Until recently I was an apparently shy person who lived mostly for my PhD research. In one year my life changed: I found myself in a job, living in another city and with an enormous desire to know the world and the people who inhabit it.
Now I live in Barreiras, Bahia, where I am a university professor. Besides being a teacher, I enjoy listening to music, reading, running. I developed the ability to love nature, its sounds, colors and textures.
In free time I like a cold beer, a coffee or a wine. And also like a a good chat (sometimes I talk too much) and listen to the others stories. Maybe it’s a way we travel farther, right?
Here it is far from everything, usually place of passage, but it is not the end of the world. I made good friends and I'm very open to making new ones.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Now that I have discovered this huge desire to meet people and the world, why not try looking for people with the same philosophy?

Music, Movies, and Books
Actually it’s difficult to choose favorite things.
Music for me it’s life. Every time that I don’t have to be in silence (at classroom or reunions), I have a song in the background. I’m very eclectic: indie, folk, MPB, samba raiz, classic, blues, jazz, are my favorite styles (too many, uh), but why not a listen to Wesley Safadão when cleaning the house or a sertanejo just to sing with friends? Last year I was introduced to Sofar Sounds gigs, now I’m kind of addicted in discover local music groups.
About movies. I love « Le fabuleux destin d’Amelie Poulain », “The ethernal sunshine of a spotless mind”. I also like Wes Anderson, Woody Allen, Almodóvar or any independent cinema. Of course I have my favorite series that includes: Friends (always), Gilmore Girls, That’s 70 show, Breaking Bad, American Horror Story, Downtown Abbey. I swear I’ve tried to watch GOT so I wouldn’t be lost in the conversations... but I fell asleep (I’ve promised to myself that in the next vacation I’m going to do a marathon... or at least gonna try it). What more would you suggest?
Well, books... reading is one of my favorite ways of travel. I love philosophy, fiction and romance. Recently, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Haruki Murakami, Valter Hugo Mãe have special place in my heart.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The first thing that comes to my mind is my PhD. Hahahahaha
It’s not so amazing, but I’ve spent much time on it, so it is important.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach a little bit of Portuguese, a little bit of “baianês” ( that also I’m still learning living here), a little about health food (and I’m not talking about gluten or lac-free diets).
In my next free time I’d like to learn play some music instruments and taking some dancing classes (too bad here haha).
I’m a really open minded person willing to learn every piece of history life or culture or a song, or anything you could share with me.
I don’t have family receipts to share, but there are great histories from life, books, songs that we can talk. Yes... I can share a great talk. Here we don’t have many things to do, but I can introduce you some really beautiful waterfall nearby.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well, as I said, I can share a few hours of conversation and some crazy ideas about life.
