About Me

IMPORTANT!
This profile is a profile of me (Monika) as well as my boyfriend's (Justinas).
We are a couple of musicians, artists, travelers and recently started getting into film creation. We live together with our cat and travel quite a lot, as well as end up in many different ways and places during our travels since we don't plan too much and love the unknown. At the moment we live in Vilnius (capital of Lithuania) and have a 2 room apartment where we host interesting travelers from time to time, although at this time of our lives we usually work night shifts, so please consider this before sending a request. Also, we loved all the people we have met on CS, although we cherish the respect from the travelers that are looking for hosts and hope to not be treated as a free hotel service. All in all, if you choose to contact us, please include some information on yourself! Hope to hear from you :)
And now, the boring introduction part (which barely anyone reads) if you happen to find us interesting and continue to read - our cat sends you a hug!

ABOUT ME. Hello everybody! I am a 22-year-old girly from Lithuania. I live with my boyfriend Justinas who happens to be from Lithuania as well (what a surprise, since we both live and met here :O). Previously I studied English and French Linguistics as well as Jazz Music Performance. I myself consider me as an artsy wierdo, who loves exploring, traveling, music, planes and the sea (oh the sea...). I am obsessed with culture, language and political differences in the world as well as am really interested in History. I also speak Curonian-Samogitian - a Lithuanian language dialect with a mix of Latvian and a spice of an extinct Baltic language - Curonian, that is so different from the national Lithuanian language, that sometimes is considered as a foreign language. I also am half Ukrainian, so I do have quite a point on it as well since from a very young age I was living between two worlds. The love of my life is my cats (well, and my boyfriend, haha). We live with a little shelter kitten named Mėta, I also do some volunteering at a pet shelter by ‘hosting’ some cats from time to time. One of the things I love a lot is finding out about the unknown world cuisine and learning some skills from locals - which happens to make me a really good cook (which does not make my boyfriend mad at all). I am extremely interested in psychology, architecture, documentaries, photography well and as most of us on this site - travel, which plays a huge role in my life nowadays since me and my boyfriend cannot go 3 months without leaving a country. What else? - May I be your surprise. https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/justinas-remeika My boyfriends' CouchSurfing account, which has not been too active since we travel, live and raise a cat together and all experiences of surfing and hosting go for both of us on this (my) account.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In some way I grew up between two worlds, since my parents are from complete different countries, so traveling was a part of life since I was 4 years old. Since the day I can remember I used to love traveling. Every summer me and my whole family would go on a road trip to Ukraine. Going there was the thing I used to look forward the most all year long. A long 2000 km road trip each time was a different and amazing experience.
When I got older internet involved - I met so many interesting people from all over the world. Even a language barrier never got in a way. Every single person I have met has widen my thought in so many ways that I do not imagine a world without having a possibility to interact with other nation people. The most important part of that, is seeing the way of life through their perspective, culture and all the ups and downs they had to go through to be here, now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last summer, while me and my boyfriend Justinas were surfing through the internet, being bored and fed up with our studies and lives, we randomly bought tickets to Italy with no plans beforehand, no preparation, no nothing. Within less than a week we packed our bags and left with just having a ticket to one city and coming back from another, 800 km away from each other. Since that day our way of life has changed drastically. Two weeks after returning home from Italy, we booked 6 flights through 3 countries, 9 cities and traveled more than 9 000 km through whole Europe covering very North, West and South. To this day, we can't go without travel more than 3 months.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Germany, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lebanon, Norway, Poland, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In
