About Me

Hello! My name is Aniela, and my best friend, Laetitia, and I are traveling around. We’re both 24, and from Oregon, USA. We’ve been on the move since late March, spending 2 months in SE Asia before making it over here to Europe. We would prefer to stick together - we can share a bed if need be! We love meeting new people and checking out places with locals, so when we heard about this site, we had to give it a try. I am a dental hygienist back home, and Laetitia is an illustrator, and tutor in human physiology. We are both clean people who like to help out in whatever situation we find ourselves in. We’d love to meet you and your city!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why we’re Couchsurfing ...
-We’ve realized that places/cities are cool, but that for the most part the variety of people we meet create the best memories! So we’re trying to meet as many people as we can :)
-We’ve found that exploring via locals’ recommendations is much more fun and exciting than following a guide book (and we can do without the extra weight in our packs ;) )
-As most of us know hostel costs can add up, and we’re looking to save where we can!

Interests

We’re interested in just about anything outside, and if there’s beer, we like it even more. We’re pretty easy going gals who like doing all sorts of things! Except karaoke. One time was enough.

Music, Movies, and Books

We love all kinds of music, spanning from classic rock (Laetitia is always searching for more Pink Floyd vinyls), reggae, and more! And I mean come on, who doesn’t need a little Maroon 5 in their life every now and then!
I’ve been reading Shantaram during our journey, and have been really enjoying it. Laetitia has been working through a few Frank Herbert books.
France got us into Sense8 - which we think we like (?) but we’re really just still trying to figure it out at this point - it’s a bit of a mind f**k, haha

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Before I tell you about the amazing thing I’ve done, let me give you a little background. I’ve always been the type to plan everything down to a T way ahead of time. But before I knew it, Laetitia and I had bought a flight to Asia, quit our jobs and were off on our adventure with hazy plans and all loose ends! We loved the experience so much that we’re now in Europe doing it again! So there it is, my little amazing moment that flipped my life around for the best :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach us to play guitar! And we’re always trying to learn/trade local words and phrases. We don’t know a ton, but between the two of us we’ve got Polish, French, Spanish, and of course English. And the tiniest bit of Thai!
Laetitia can ‘try’ to teach you to whistle like a bird - I personally still haven’t mastered it BUT I’m pretty good at opening jars, so if you’ve got any stubborn pickle jars, save ‘em for me! We make quite the dynamic team.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can and would love to share laughs, beers, walks and maybe even a run if you take it easy on us! We love to cook/eat so sharing a meal is always a good time! Also - I’ll share floss and toothpaste if you’re out. It’s just who I am at this point...
