About Me

I’m an easy-going, adventurous, and curious person who’s always eager to learn something new—especially from people who live and think differently from me. I grew up in a city called Jundiaí and later moved to São Paulo to study English/Portuguese translation.

I genuinely enjoy talking about pretty much anything. I believe that even the most ordinary parts of our lives can open up new perspectives and lead to meaningful conversations.

In August 2022, I took a one-way flight to France without knowing when I’d return to Brazil. This long journey had been a dream of mine since I was 15. I’m traveling with no fixed plans, just the intention to meet new people, explore new places, and learn new things along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd like to meet new people, discover new places and be as close as possible to different cultures and the reality of the people that actually live in the countries that I visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m really into the films of Agnès Varda and Jacques Demy—the playfulness of Peau d’Âne and Les Demoiselles de Rochefort, and the tenderness of documentaries like The Gleaners and I and The Beaches of Agnès. I also feel deeply connected to Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas and Alice in the Cities, and love the poetic intensity of Werner Herzog’s documentaries. I’m fascinated by the surreal worlds of Lynch, Jodorowsky, Buñuel, and Gilliam; the gripping thrillers of Melville and Clouzot; the experimental edge of Chris Marker and Alain Resnais; and Éric Rohmer’s thoughtful, atmospheric storytelling. I can’t leave out Brazilian filmmakers like Glauber Rocha, Walter Salles, Fernando Meirelles, Luiz Fernando Carvalho, Karim Aïnouz, Eduardo Coutinho, and Kleber Mendonça Filho.

When it comes to books, I enjoy getting lost in Borges’ labyrinths, García Márquez’s magical realism, and Hesse’s spiritual journeys. I’m drawn to family sagas like East of Eden, Buddenbrooks, and The Leopard, and Russian literature has a special place in my heart—especially Chekhov’s short stories, Dostoyevsky’s The Insulted and Humiliated, Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita, and Turgenev’s Sketches from a Hunter’s Album. Some of my favorite Brazilian writers are Clarice Lispector, Raduan Nassar, Lygia Fagundes Telles, Machado de Assis, and João Ubaldo Ribeiro. (And my favorite graphic novel is Asterios Polyp.)

Music-wise, I love The Beatles, Talking Heads, Sparks, and Os Mutantes. I often listen to Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg, Nick Drake, Georges Brassens, Charles Aznavour, and Barbara. Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan are lyrical heroes to me. I’m also proud of Brazil’s musical icons like Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, Elis Regina, Jorge Ben Jor, Tom Zé, João Gilberto, Adoniran Barbosa, and Tim Maia. Film scores by Michel Legrand, Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, and Philip Glass often make their way into my playlists, along with classical favorites like Chopin, Liszt, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Bach, and Beethoven. I also enjoy exploring music from different corners of the world, with a playlist featuring songs from Ethiopia, Nigeria, Mali, Cuba, Argentina, Chile, Lebanon, Russia, and the Czech Republic.
