About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new and interesting people along this new journey, get to know as many amazing cities as I can, and get to know myself better. This is my "once in a lifetime" trip.

ABOUT ME

I was born an raised in Santiago, Chile. As a kid, I had the chance to travel a lot, since my dad is a pilot. I leanrt to speak English from a young age, as my dad would only buy me movies and videogames in English so I woud learn the language.

At age 16 I had the opportunity to move to Singapore, where I ended up living for about 6 years. I did my last two years of high school there, and then went to (and finished) university.

Living overseas is one of the most important things that has happened to me, as it helped define who I am today, with which I'm fairly happy.

So far, throughout my life, I've worked on fast food chains, restaurants, and desk jobs. As a good mollenial, I quit my job and started travelling.

PHILOSOPHY

Really into Stoicism. If you can do something about it, do your best. If it's out of your control, don't let it get to you.

Lyingis always wrong.

Make friends with people who want the best for you.

Always assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don't.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a good millenial, I decided to quit my job and travel around, as eventually, I will end up working for the rest of my life. It's entirely possible that one day I will start a family, and that will not be a good time to get travel anxiety!

One of my main objectives in this journey is to meet new people, hopefully that are really different to me, and what better way than to sleep on their couch?

Music, Movies, and Books

This is a really hard one! My brain literally stops functioning every time someone asks me my favorite anything. Suddenly, I have no idea what books I’ve ever read, movies I’ve seen, or songs I’ve heard. Then I just say whatever I can think of first.

I will try my best.

Music: This is the hardest one. Music is mostly background for me, and not really a hobby, but I would say my 5 favorite bands/musicians (in no specific order) are:
Pink Floyd
David Bowie
Daft Punk
Gorillaz
The Beatles.
Also, I'd argue that Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd is the most hype song ever made.

Movies, from the top of my head:
Alien (1 and 2)
Predator
Terminator
Memento
Vanilla Sky (the original Spain version)
La piel en que habito
Everyone wants to be John Malkovich
Wolf of Wall Street
The Revenant (All DiCaprio movies are good imo, so I won't start listing them)
Pacific Rim
Arrival
Interstellar
Batman (only the ones by Chritopher Nolan)
Austin Powers (all of them)
Search for the Wilderpeople
What we do in the shadows
Requiem for a dream (although I would never watch it again)
I could go on forever so I will stop here!

Books:
I really enjoyed Isabel Allende's books. She's a Chilean author.
Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley was a great read.
12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson is the most recent one I've finished. I highly recommend this book.
I'm currently reading Philosophy for Dummies, since recently I've been gaining interest in the matter (The "Dummies" series are great if you want to start learning a new subject from zero!).
Next on my list is 1984 by George Orwell.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being a talking ape on a rock floating through space!

Teach, Learn, Share

Want to learn Spanish or maybe even English? I'm your man.
I love having friendly, open-minded debates about any subject.

I want to learn yoga and meditation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Culture, experiences, beer.
I'm also open to going on adventures!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Spain, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Chile, Malaysia, Singapore
