About Me

Hey! I am Kıvanç from the beautiful town İzmir (or Smyrna for some). I've recently started traveling around during my free time from school. Currently in my 4th year Molecular Biology and Genetics study at İzmir Institute of Technology.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people, learn something from them, and also surf couches.

Interests

I am a pretty big fan of taking pictures of buildings and natural occurances. Especially medieval age buildings.
Metal music is something I've liked over almost 20 years now, especially thrash and heavy metal.
Wandering around the city and getting lost in streets is very fun and relaxing for me, not to mention some amazing photograph opportunities you discover during wandering around.

  • photography
  • metal music
  • museums
  • walking around
  • renaissance art
  • grunge
  • medieval history
  • drinking coffee
  • drinking beer
  • playing drums
  • getting to know new cultures
  • getting to know the locals
  • laughing until your brain craves more oxygen

Music, Movies, and Books

Very big fan of the bands Queen, Ghost, Gojira, Baroness, Nirvana. Many more bands I do listen but these hold a special place in my heart.
Very big fan of H.P. Lovecraft's work. I will always appreciate a good horror fiction. The Lord of the Rings is a series I always go back to read from time to time to appreciate Tolkien's genius. Also like "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series. I do also like Turkish writers Sabahattin Ali, Sait Faik Abasıyanık, and Cengiz Aytmatov.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The nature of the rampart walk route around Ieper, Belgium.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach what you wanna know about my culture or language as best as I can. Also if you wanna learn about evolution or anything biology related. Some things about photography or playing the drums if you fancy that.
I want to learn about your culture and way of living, the customs and the history of your city over a cup of coffee or a bottle of beer.
Hopefully we share some good laughter and memories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories of my travels, my knowledge of whatever you ask, and many many laughters.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, Turkey
