Overview
About Me
I’m a teacher and artist and climber and baker. I left my dream job and cabin in the woods in the past to find my next dream job and to create more cozy spaces, and to squeeze into other powerful and inspiring communities. I love costumed tea parties in wild places, cooking elaborate brunches and sitting down together around colorful tables, walking barefoot in soft forests, watching clouds swirl, dunks in cold water, treasure hunting for hot springs, painting my toenails gold, water coloring, slooow mornings, making popcorn with extravagant spice mixtures, golden milk in the evening, the family fun game, ice cream in all seasons, soup in the right season, growing and tending food, snuggling baby goats, looking closely, meandering.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While it can certainly be fun and natural and easy to meet other travelers and talk about where we’ve been and where next and how long, etc... but I want to travel to know a place and it’s people, to learn the language, to become a part (not apart) of the community and feel what it’s like to live in that place. I don’t have a home right now, and everywhere I go is with the understanding and possibility that it might become home, or the place that pulls me in forever.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Golden Compass, Clan of the Cave Bear, anything by Tom Robbins or Murakami. The Singing Creek Where The Willows Grow by Opal Whitney, Oryx & Crake, Name of the Wind, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Tiny Beautiful Things, Annihilation... currently working my way through the Harry Potter series en español.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One time I was teaching a group of special needs students in Yosemite National Park, and one of them found a nearly-dead fish flopping in a mud puddle. She picked it up and we put it in my nearly-empty water bottle, and every student donated a splash of water, and we hiked all over to find running water to set the fish free. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so impactful in my life— not necessarily for the fish, even, but for that moment of joy and celebration with the students when the fish swam away.
