Hola Couchsurfers!

I am Maarten, a thirty year old male, who is very sociable and keen to learning about all cultures and people. I have a background in neuropsychology and have been working over the years in different startups. But right now, I am taking some time off to host people in my home and go visit new places myself! I just came back from travelling South-America for 4 months, and I had the greatest time. It would be great to host people from South-American to return the favor! Y también para hablar Espagnol!

I love playing the guitar and DJing at night. I have a huge passion for all sorts of music from across the globe. I like to cook, go for a run and make jokes as much as a can :-). I also dance (I used to breakdance for 10 years when I was yougf), mostly swing and 50s dance.

Hope to meet a lot of new people in the near future!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that couchsurfing is the best way to see the local culture from the inside. I used to do AirBnB and what I liked most about hosting people was actually talking to them and taking them around town. As a result, I have decided to offer my space for free, as I like the people most anyway :-)

It will also allow me to really meet great people on my travels, help in their homes and acquire the language quickly.

I haven't hosted anyone until now, as I am new here. I hope that people find my place quickly! I also want to travel around and meet new people in their places, but it only makes sense if I return the favor much more!

Music, Movies, and Books

Where to start! Difficult question.

**MUSIC**
I love a broad range of music, goging from turkish psychedelica from the 70s-80s (Baris Manço, Erkin Koray) to current American Hip Hop (Kendrick Lamar, Earl Sweatshirt, Jonwayne), to more Southern American vibes (Marcos Valle) and all sorts of electronic music (e.g., NU Disco, Nordic Disco, etc). Oh, and everything related to the Beatles and Frank Zappa always goes in with a huge smile (and love to singalong :-))

**MOVIES**
I love David Lynch movies (Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway) or anything that has some spiritual/thought provoking scenario (e.g., The Lobster).

**BOOKS**
Mostly into non-fiction to be honest, trying to expand my knowledge about fiction! Last recommended book I read was Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harari

I can teach you some basics about DJing or guitar! And language courses as well!
