About Me

Hey couchsurfers.

My name is Marcel, 29 years old, from Germany.
I’m usually outgoing, can also be sometimes a bit shy at the beginning though. I’m open minded.
I’m currently travelling through Australia. Before I came to Australia in September 2018, I worked for 5 years in a company which is trading aluminium. In Australia I worked in Tasmania in a packhouse of a berryfarm. And since the mid of May I’m just travelling around Australia - open end.

That’s me so far, if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. 😊

Cheers,
Marcel

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet new people, get to know new cultures. Once I’ll have my own flat/house/whatever again and I’m settled I’m also more than happy to host people. 🤗

Interests

I’m very interested into sports, pretty much all kind of. I love music and good food. I also like to cook.
Going on concerts or festivals is one of my favourite things and of course travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mostly I’m listening to HipHop/Rap (German or English) or Pop Rock. Bands like Panic At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, The Wombats, Twenty One Pilots etc.

I’m a fan of movies with Leonardo DiCaprio. They’re always unique, quite deep or interesting. But also a lot of other movies are fine, haha.

I’m not a big book reader but sometimes I do read. Atm my nose sticks in the book ‚The Tattooist Of Auschwitz‘ - a great Fiction book based on true story and for me as somebody’s who interested in history already a great book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think I have to talk about two great things and one of it is a bit connected to another one.

I went vegan 4 years ago cause I wasn’t happy with the whole system anymore and don’t want to support the bad treatment of animals anymore. I’m still vegan and also this diet helped me to loose 20kg of weight. Of course not just being vegan, I also did more sport than usual, but it was a part of this process.

The second thing is that I pretty much gave up my life in Germany (work, car, my own flat) and decided to go to Australia in September 2019. The beginning was not that easy as I thought, but after a while I felt more and more comfy, found jobs and ended up in Tasmania, where I worked 6 months as a supervisor in a berry farm packhouse - a great experience to supervise in a foreign language with a lot of different cultures and nationalities. Also my English was not the best when I came to Australia due to I didn’t need it that much back home, but all the time here in Australia made me improving it and I can call me fluent now, which for me is a very helpful and cool thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I play soccer since I’m 4 years old, so I could give a few soccer lessons to kids.
