¡Hola! Soy Daniela Torres, soy colombiana y tengo 24 años. Actualmente vivo en Villavicencio, Colombia. Me gradue como psicóloga en 2016. Decidí hacerme vegetariana hace 10 años e intentar vivir una vida amigable con el medio ambiente y los animales.
Estuve en intercambio en 2014 en Monterrey, México, en la Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM), allí hice muchos amigos de todas partes del mundo y aprendí mucho de la cultura mexicana. Regresé a México el año pasado (2018) para la boda de mi mejor amiga mexicano, en San Luis Potosí, y luego hice mi primer viaje sola desde Cancún a Mérida, ¡y fue una experiencia increíble!
Me encantan los animales, nadar, bailar y cocinar y también estoy muy interesada en practicar mi inglés con una buena conversación.

Hi there! I'm Daniela Torres, I'm Colombian and I'm 24 years old. I currently live in Villavicencio, Colombia. I got my degree as a psychologist in 2016. I chose to become a vegetarian 10 years ago and try to live a friendly life with the environment and animals.
I was in exchange in 2014 in Monterrey, Mexico at the University of Monterrey (UDEM), there I made many friends from all parts of the world, and learn much of the Mexican culture. I returned to Mexico last year (2018) for the wedding of my best Mexican friend, in San Luis Potosi, and then I made my first roadtrip alone from Cancun to Merida, and it was an incredible experience!
I love animals, swimming, dancing and cooking and I am also very interested in practicing my English with a good conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Después de graduarme como psicóloga, trabajé muy duro para ahorrar dinero e intentar viajar a muchos lugares, pero en el camino me di cuenta de que es muy costoso para mí hacer turismo de manera convencional y que tenía que arriesgarme a probar nuevas formas, salir de mi zona de confort y permitirme descubrir el mundo de una manera que sea posible para mí. Es por eso que después de superar muchos obstáculos personales, decidí comenzar un cambio en mi vida y convencí a mi mejor amiga, Lina, de viajar juntas a México, será nuestro primer viaje juntas y la primera vez que Lina sale de Colombia, es por que estoy muy feliz y emocionada por todas las aventuras que tendremos.
Mi amigo Philipp, de Alemania, me recomendó unirme a Couchsurfing para ayudarnos a hacer realidad nuestro sueño de viajar a muchos lugares de una manera más económica, divertida y valiosa, porque nos permite conectarnos con personas reales, a quienes les agrado, Un intercambio cultural, hacer amigos y aprender de cada experiencia.
Este viaje significa mucho para nosotras y esperamos volver a Colombia para contarles a todos nuestros amigos y familiares que los sueños pueden hacerse realidad, solo hay que ir por ellos;)

After I got my degree as a Psychologist, I worked very hard to save money and try to travel to many places, but on the way I realized that it is very expensive for me to do tourism in a conventional way and that I had to risk trying new forms, get out of my comfort zone and allow me to discover the world in a way that is possible for me. That is why after overcoming many personal obstacles, I decided to start a change in my life and convinced my best friend, Lina, to travel together to Mexico, it will be our first trip together and the first time Lina leaves Colombia, it is for that I am very happy and excited for all the adventures we will have.
My friend Philipp from Germany, recommended me to join Couchsurfing to help us make our dream of traveling to many places possible in a cheaper way, fun and valuable way, because it allows us to connect with real people, who like me, are interested in a cultural exchange, make friends and learn from each experience.
This trip means a lot to us and we hope to return to Colombia to tell all our friends and family that dreams can come true, you just have to go for them;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Terminé mis estudios universitarios muy joven y decidí ir a trabajar y vivir solo en un pequeño pueblo de mi país. Allí descubrí mi interés en trabajar con comunidades vulnerables, niños y mujeres. Cuando regresé a mi ciudad, conseguí un trabajo en una ONG dedicada al cuidado de niños y adolescentes en condición de adopción, que han sufrido algún tipo de abuso. Gracias a mi profesión he conocido a muchas personas, he escuchado muchas historias y he visto los rostros de quienes sufren. A veces es difícil para mí que no afecte mi vida personal, pero entendí que todos tenemos algo bueno que dar.
Creo que lo más sorprendente que he hecho es ayudar a aquellos que pensaban que todo estaba perdido.

I finished my university studies very young and decided to go to work and live alone in a small town in my country. There I discovered my interest in working with vulnerable communities, children and women. When I returned to my city, I got a job in an NGO dedicated to the care of children and adolescents in a condition of adoption, who have suffered some type of abuse. Thanks to my profession, I have met many people, I have heard many stories, and I have seen the faces of those who suffer. Sometimes it's hard for me that it doesn't affect my personal life, but I understood that we all have something good to give.
I think the most amazing thing I've done is help those who thought everything was lost.

Estoy interesada en un intercambio cultural, estoy aprendiendo inglés y puedo practicar contigo, también soy buena enseñando español. I am interested in a cultural exchange, I am learning English and I can practice with you, I am also good at teaching Spanish. I can teach you about the vegetarian lifestyle and share some recipes with you. As a psychologist I can share some tips with you if you feel you need some help.
