Hi there! I'm Jaana from Finland: solo traveler, food lover, writer and painter. I’ve always loved traveling but in August 2018 I started a whole different kind of journey by leaving Finland to travel the world and do a working holiday in Australia. During the 1,5 years abroad I also discovered Couchsurfing and had some amazing experiences through this platform 🧡 Nowadays I’m back to my home city Helsinki but still love meeting and connecting with people, especially when I’m traveling

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m constantly reading, but one of my favorite books ever is “What I loved” by Siri Hustvedt and a recent favorite is the “Remembrance of Earth's Past” by Liu Cixin. I love going to the movies as well and just focusing on the film in silence. As for music, I like indie, disco, house and k-pop. But my most listened genre is lo-if hip hop for focus, haha.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping in a tent at a safari in South Africa has probably been the most amazing thing so far. One night we did stargazing and saw three galaxies at the same time. Pretty mind blowing 🤩

Teach, Learn, Share

I love cooking and talking about food, so if you're interested in Finnish and Scandinavian cuisine, I could definitely tell and teach you a lot about it. And I’m happy to cook for you as well – I’ve been told I’m pretty good at it 🏼‍

I also enjoy swing music and dancing lindy hop, so I could teach you that :) And if you're interested in learning one of the weirdest languages in the world, I can definitely teach you Finnish 🇫🇮
