Hi, my name is Mascha (nickname for Maria) and I'm an open-minded and bubbly person, who likes to meet new people and learn about their culture and exchange stories with them. Right now I have some free time until I begin my studies in September and I'd love to use it to experience different adventures (travel to countries and learn about their customs).

My first stop in Malta was already a wonderful trip and I've met a lot of friendly people there whom I grateful for :D.

Over the last few years I've been quite active pursuing different sports. Of which my favorite are tennis and ping pong, although I don't mind trying out new ones and being active in general.

I have an optimistic outlook on life and like to see the beauty in even the little things.
I'm also very curious (in a positive way :)) and I enjoy learning new skills or discovering interesting things, because I think it´s important to go through life with an open mind and heart.

I'm definitely an animal lover and I have 5 beautiful budgerigars of my own that I take care of. It's also important to me to think more about the environment. That's also why I'm a vegetarian.

Creative activities via which I like to express myself include dancing, crafting, acting, photography, cooking...

I'm also very organized, responsible and tidy (so you needn't worry that I mess up your place during my stay).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it's a great opportunity to meet new people, make friends around the world and to experience the life of locals through couchsurfing.
It's also a wonderful way to learn from each other and to be exposed to different customs.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all the music that was produced from the beginning of jazz to the rock genre (especially Rock 'n' Roll).
But I also listen to some more recent pop hits.

My favorite movie genres are either comedy or action (adventure). When watching series I prefer fantasy too.

I like reading dystopian books that describe a different society from ours and thus are designed to make the reader contemplate social constructs.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My most amazing experience so far was last autumn when I was able to stay with a wonderful family in Spain and improve my language skills there.
I'm looking forward to making so many more happen!

Teach, Learn, Share

My attitude is that you never stop learning and that you should always strive towards obtaining new knowledge (which is possible through so many different ways). That´s also why I’m an open person and why I love having interesting conversations with people I meet.

I can provide language practice in my native languages (German, Russian) but also English. And we can talk in Spanish or French to improve these languages actively.

I'm interested in sports, healthy meals (like super foods), crafting (like sewing), acting, music, dancing and so much more. So we'll definetely find something interesting to spend our time with.

Or we can really just talk about anything and have a great time together!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my travel experiences and stories with you and show you cultural differences (I'm from a multicultural background myself). As I like cooking I can prepare some meals too.

I'm also up to explore the city and cultural attractions with you if you'd like that.
