My name is Ema, with just one m.
Originally from south of Croatia, a small city called Šibenik, situated in the region of Dalmatia at the sea board.
I am 32, born on 26th of December. Believe me, the worst time for having a birthday, as you always get present for Christmas and birthday in one and it is quite hard to gather all of your friends during the holidays. So, think of that if planning a baby. :D

In general, I love changes and therefore enjoy working in a various fields and living in new countries. By now, it gave me a wide horizont in dealing with different kinds of challenges that can arise in life, and opportunity to meet and spend time with a wide variety of people.

My true passion is learning languages. Besides that, I love theater, movies, gym, nature and long walks, even though, I am also a city girl. :D I enjoy singing, especially accompanied by guitar but still have fear to try it out in a form of singing in a band or similar.
I am fan of camping in the wild, but in a spring/summer period, as these are my favorite seasons. Still haven't been brave enough to give it a try during the winter time.
Cooking is my big and old love, therefore, I hope cooking some of the dalmatian specialties may be considered as my little contribution to your hospitality. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I truly enjoy exploring new cultures and places, improving my knowledge and sharing existing with others. After each journey I feel much richer as a person. Maybe it is hard to describe it by words, I can only say, once you start to travel, it just becomes part of life and you want more of it. And all of this is much more fun when you have like-minded people by your side.

Music, Movies, and Books

*MUSIC*
I can pretty much listen various styles of music as long as they have feel-good vibe with a catchy beat. It is necessary, as well, that the lyrics mean something to me.

*MOVIES*
Influenced by my cinephile family I am a big movie fan ever since I was a child. I was reading movie magazines from the time I could read, surprising the man in video tape store with all titles and genres informations.
In the early age I fell in love with musicals 'Singing in the rain' and 'The wizard of Oz'. Inspired by it since the very beginning, my happiness was endless when I realised, few years ago, that the latter will be adapted in Croatian national theater as a show and that I will be part of it, working there 'à l' epoque'.
I enjoy watching different genres but I try to choose those from which I can learn something, so lately documentaries and biographies are my first choice.

*BOOKS*
When it comes to books my favorites are comic books, so I definitly want to highlight Persepolis as a wonderful biography in which illustrations tell a story all on their own.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent an amazing year in France doing a voluntary service and working with people with disabilities. I thought that year cannot be better but then I've got this idea to hitchhike back to Croatia with my roommate - why not to exit the comfort zone once more. After 1700 km, 25 cars, several couchsurfers and friends, I feel that this was only a start of my hitchhiking adventures :D

I enjoy cooking for others and seeing the expression of pleasure on their faces after snacking. :)
I could tell you about my culture, teach you a bit of croatian, english or french vocabulary, share my travel stories, sing with you or just enjoy the talks on many subjects.
