Overview
About Me
Hi, my name is Jule and I'm from Germany. I currently live in Darmstadt where I am studying at the local university.
For me topics like global and social justice, anticapitalism, feminism, antidiscrimination, global warming, sustainability, human rights, mental health (and so on) are really important to me. This is why I am collaborating on different projects concerning these topics as well as I like to have talks or discussions regarding these topics. I also enjoy doing sports, yoga, meeting with friends, art (both visual and performing), going out (especially to techno parties/raves) and spending time in nature. In general I am quite adventurous and love getting to know different cultures and new people and exploring new things. But sometime I also just want to be by myself and have a quite night, cooking, watching a movie or reading a book.
!Hola!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I feel like in this modern society we often see travelling very much as an accomplishment or even competition (often even with people from all around the world, so "winning" is impossible anyways): to visit as many places as possible, to upload pictures from different places, to have the most unique, the longest, the "best" travel experience. I thought like that for most of my life as well and I still catch myself thinking like that now every now and then. But thanks to some experiences in the past I've realized what else traveling can be: It can be a way to get a better understanding of other cultures. Getting to know people from other places, listening to their stories, trying new things - expanding my horizon. And I think this way of traveling can shift our minds little by little and could contribute to making this world a bit more tolerant and understanding.
For that type of traveling, couchsurfing is really great: It's a great way to immerse into the local culture more easily because you immediately have a person that knows the area and can tell you about the people and places. Additionally, Couchsurfing provides a way for cheaper travels, which enables people to travel for longer periods of time (which again makes it possible to get to know the culture even better) or to go travel at all. These are the two main aspects why I'm here. Sadly, I haven't been able to use it as much as I would like to, but I'm already excited for my future experiences.
