About Me

Hello everyone ! I am María, a Spanish girl interested in discovering new places and people. I consider myself as an outgoing and sociable person (I like planning things with friends and also new people; f.e. I have went to tandem, languages exchange, here in Madrid) and empathetic and kind too (I mean, I am a psychologist !). I think we can say also I am creative (I write short tales from time to time) and with a very good sense of humor (you know the one telling jokes, even about negative things: that's me).

As a psychologist, my specialization is in clinical psychology. I have worked with addicte people, elderly with cognitive impairment and, right now, with children and teenagers, in a helpline listening to any problem they want to tell us.

I am planning a trip to London with my friend Irene (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/irene-robledo), for visiting a friend of us, it's our first time there. Irene and I met at 15 in high school and we have been together since then ! We have even worked together as tour guides for American teenagers. They were doing a tour in Europe and our job was to show them the most importante places in Madrid and the most famous pictures in Prado Museum. They told us about USA, its education system, the different states, etc., and we spent a nice time with them.

We are not going to have many time because we will be there just for 4 days. But if you want to join us in our plans (visit the city basically) you are more than welcomed :) We would like to know London with a local that could explain us things that are not in the guides.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always loved meeting new people, specially from other countries and cultures. I believe sharing knowledge and curiosities can be really rewarding, and I feel everybody have something to tell :)
Of course, getting new experiencies is other of my aims. Being in different places makes you reflect and offers you another perspectives of things. I believe one of the moments in which you can know yourself better is when travelling.
I have just finished my studies this year and I am entering in the work world, so my resources are not as good as I would like to, that's another reason why I want to do couchsurfing. Also, some of my friends did it in the past and they had nothing but good experiences with it.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite group of music has been, is and will be Linkin Park (L). I usually listen to rock (30 seconds to Mars), punk (old Green Day, Sum 41, etc.), electronic (I like most of the types of electronic, but I have to recognise I am complety in love with trance) and Spanish rap.
About films and series, I would say Inception, Shutter Island, The lord of the rings, Lost, 13 reasons why and My Mad Fat Diary.
Going with books: The lord of the rings (again), One Hundred Years of Solitude, the Catcher in the Rye, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I don't know if it's exactly something incredible or not, but entering in my master was not easy at all ! It's mandatory here in Spain in order to work as a clinical psychologist, and there are so much resquests for attending to it.
I finished it, speding the last year getting experience and creating a final project of a program that then I put in practise.

Teach, Learn, Share

- Spanish (of course) and information about Spain and its different regions (I have been in many places of my country), about where to go, traditions, etc.
- Psychology: I looove talking about human behaviour and the theories of the people about that. For me it's more than interesting.
- Writing: for me it's just a hobbie, nothing professional, but I have been doing it for years so... maybe I can share some tips.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Nice talks and nice time.
If you ever come to Madrid, I can offer you a tour ! As I said I worked as a tour guide, I really enjoy showing my city :D We can go to landmarks, museums, or to more secret places that only the locals know and don't often appear on the Internet when you look for information of Madrid. Rastro, tapas and party are also included :)

Countries I’ve Visited
