About Me

I'm currently still doing my post-graduate studies, and I enjoy playing music in my free time. I'm an introverted person, and I'm quite laid back.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was recommended by a friend who had a good experience with CS. My studies have led me abroad. I wanted to meet some people and share experiences and stories. When I get back home, I want to start hosting people and sharing experiences about the city I live in!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
I really enjoy indie music, mainly because it's usually made in someone's bedroom or garage, from start to finish, which gives you the song the way the artist intended it to sound. I'm also into most genres, like jazz, classical, rock, folk, and some electronic. It's really hard to narrow it down, because I love music.

Movies
Just like in music, I like indie films, for the same reasons. Also, a movie with a good soundtrack normally wins me over. One of my favourites is Donnie Darko.

Books
I normally mostly read science fiction, and one of my favourite books from that category is Dune by Frank Hubert. Often I like to read a good novel, and one I've really enjoyed was The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One night I went camping in this remote village in the mountains called "Die Hel", which translates to the hell. It sits in a deep valley, a couple of hours away from any civilization. The night sky was the most amazing thing that I had ever seen. It was like peering into the cosmos with a telescope. It was one of the first things that had amazed me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach
I can teach you some interesting/colourful Afrikaans phrases. I can show you how to cook or how to have a traditional South African barbeque "Braai".

Learn
I love acquiring new knowledge. I would love to learn about culture or language, or any kind of specialized knowledge that you have. I enjoy learning about the arts, history, science, politics, and philosophy.

Share
I would like to share experiences in travelling, and life. I enjoy hearing peoples stories! Exchanging ideas and opinions on interesting topics.
