About Me

Hi everyone :)
My name is Benedikt, I am 24, and I have been living in Stuttgart (Germany) for already five years now. I moved here to study English, Italian and Politics / Economics for becoming a high school teacher.
I share a flat with 5 other people. I really enjoy being surrounded with people and having good talks in the evening. In my free time, I love going to flea markets, do second hand shopping or cultivate our little "garden" we have in our courtyard. I'm also pretty fond of games, especially board games and games of cards. I'm voluntarily engaged in foodsharing and every summer I'm part of a team organising a kids summer camp for children from 8 to 14.
I would describe myself as open-minded, pretty orderly and sometimes a bit slow-thinking. In general, I do not really like to hurry and enjoy being independent.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I registered on Couchsurfing, because I find it a great opportunity to get to know other people and at the same time finding a place to stay over. I enjoy travelling a lot and my next stay abroad is going to be next summer in Italy. For this, I'm planning to travel on my own and I'm looking for nice people to host me there. I find it really interesting to have contact with locals and to share experiences while travelling alone. In return, I'd love to host some people myself in our cosy apartment in Stuttgart.

Music, Movies, and Books

Speaking honestly, I'm not super fond of watching movies and reading books. My studies require me to read a lot, so reading books in my free time, is a bit tedious for me. When I feel like reading, I read newspapers. My favourite Germany newspaper is "taz."
However, I love listening to music. My favourite artists are Marina and the Diamonds and Florence and the Machine. But I also like to listen to some German artists, like Laing. I'm pretty narrowed in my kind of music to some specific artists, so showing me new artists is always welcomed ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the perspective on what can be blamed "amazing" is rather subjective and really hard to tell. Concerning my travels I enjoyed several experiences, which were to me all equally amazing: Going on a hike in the Caucasus in Georgia, doing nature walks in national parks in Uganda, biking tours through the beautiful landscape of Norway or spending carnival in Venice with other exchange students.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are lucky to be proficient in the most beautiful language called Italian please please please teach me!
If you do not have any Italian skills and are eager to learn, I'm willing to share some knowledge :)
Besides languages, I'm just interested in people's life. I like to hear different perspectives on life itself and I'm not opposed to reflexive talks about all kinds of things.
During my time travelling, I'd love to hear more about the place and the people I'm staying at.
