ABOUT ME
We live 6 hours from New York City by car, and much more by public transportation. For more info on our location and car/public transportation distances to major cities, please click on "My home" and go to "Public Transportation Access."
We are a family of three, currently sans poules. We have no pets.
My husband is a singer/songwriter/storyteller who performs for kids and families. He is also part of a trio that plays traditional Irish, French Canadian, and contra dance type music. He loves music and sings, plays guitar, piano, accordion, banjo, and drums. He is very knowledgeable about the history and ecology of Lake Champlain and has led paddling and rowing ecology trips on the lake. He is a naturalist and aquatic ecologist. He speaks English, French, Spanish, and a bit of Russian. He is a builder, logger, and granola maker! He is currently planning a course for educators through the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum called The Roots of Samuel de Champlain. He will lead that course in June 2019 in different towns and cities in France.
Our daughter (born 2003) is very creative, musical and social. She is a Harry Potter devotee. She reads, sings, plays music, skis, participates in school musicals. We listen to and sing along with a lot of NY musicals in our home! Some favorites are Lin Manuel Miranda's In the Heights and Hamilton, along with Beauty and the Beast, Dear Evan Hanson, Rent, Fame, Newsies, etc. She enjoys hiking and swimming in the Adirondacks. She plans to do a 273 mile backpacking trip of the Long Trail in the Green Mountains of Vermont in summer 2018. She speaks English, Spanish and is picking up French.
I am a sourdough bread baker and an organic gardener. I love hiking, swimming, feeding people, hosting guests, ice cream, dark chocolate, coffee and spicy food. I am an Adirondack Mountain "46er," and supporter and working volunteer of the ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club.) I am a lover of language and languages. I am excited to be beginning to learn Spanish medical interpretation so that I can volunteer serving Latino migrant dairy workers in a local non-profit health clinic.
We live in rural Vermont, where on a clear night the stars are bright and endless. We have views of woods, hills, a large pond, horse and sheep. In summer we hear those animals, along with singing frogs and toads that live all around us, and an occasional rooster. We can ski and hike right from our door, and we walk barefoot about 5 minutes to our neighbor's small private pond in summer. On certain occasions we may be able to share that resource with you.

Music, Movies, and Books
[Sound of Music will always be my favorite movie.
I am currently reading Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker.
I am also reading Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit.
Both of these books are non-fiction and are engaging, enlightening, compelling and unfortunately very disturbing!]
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Eating best hommos ever in Shuk HaCaramel
Finding, exploring, and swimming in beautiful and remote Adirondack lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, and waterfalls]
Teach, Learn, Share
[I can teach Spanish, how to make sourdough bread, and many other foods, including how to make yummy ganache au chocolat in less than 5 minutes!
I am always interested in learning new languages, and speaking, or trying to speak the ones I know.
