About Me

Hi there fellow Couchsurfer,

my name is Adam, I'm from Bratislava and I'm 22. I'm currently studying economics in Vienna and I live with my family in Bratislava. My hobbies are mostly gaming, watching movies or series, reading books and listen to music but from time to time I also draw, paint, produce music and all that jazz. I really like being creative. From the photos you can deduce that I also like being hilarious.

When I was nine my parents sent me to the Vienna Boys' Choir, where I stayed until my finals. For the first four years we toured around the world (that's why I have so many countries in my profile, most of them are from that time). Because of the fact that nobody spoke slovak there I learned german fairly quickly. Speaking german and english fluently enabled me to have a good paying position in Bratislava, where I worked for almost two years after my finals.

After this I started studying at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, because I wanted to educate myself more. The former job was fine but I just didn't want to miss the experience of being a student.

Back in July 2018 I met my wonderful girlfriend Viki. I didn't think it would be possible but she is just as hilarious as me.

So yeah, this is my short life story :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My girlfriend told me about it. I wasn't familiar with it at all before that. I knew that Airbnb was a thing but I didn't know that something as awesome as Couchsurfing existed.

I registered because I really like the concept of this, just being able to message someone and ask them if you can stay at their place for a couple of nights and maybe hang out and chat with them. They can tell you about/show you the city you're visiting and all that. Maybe you could make a really good friend.

I must say, I don't have any experiences with the app yet but soon me and my girlfriend are going to Berlin and hopefully I can make my first Couchsurfing experiences :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I adore music, it has been with me for all my life basically. My father sang to me a lot when I was little, then as you know I went to the choir in Vienna and after that I started to make music myself. My favorite genres are all kinds of Jazz, Indie, Classical and Old School Hip-Hop. My favorite artists include Stevie Wonder, Tom Misch, Tony Bennett.

Favorite movies include A Beautiful Mind, The Shining, LotR (duh), La vita e bella.
I also really like Marvel movies and comics in general :)

Favorite series are Californication, Brooklyn nine-nine, Supernatural (I know it's not the best but I've watched it since I was young and developed a bond with it), etc.

Favorite books include A Catcher In The Rye, The Master and Margarita, Sapiens and the Harry Potter series (duh)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 15 we had an improv theater group over at our school doing a workshop. I had a lot of fun doing it and the people were really funny, creative and welcoming. After this workshop we went to see them at the theater. There were about 400-500 pupils in the auditorium from multiple different schools and our school as well of course. They started their sketches, being hilarious as hell, and after about half an hour they said they needed one volunteer from the workshop before. You have to know, I was the class clown so everyone from my class pointed at me. Normally I wouldn't dare to do such a thing. Even as a little kid I was terrified of being chosen at a play to do something. But because of the workshop I was somehow filled with confidence and dared to climb the stage.

The next few minutes were amazing, I'll always remember them. What happened was, someone chose a scene for us to play and we started it. as we were. We were in a barbershop and one guy from the theater group started "cutting" my hair. I played a pissed-of, arrogant bastard and he played a humble servant-like character. It was marvelous. Especially because we supported each other at what we were doing in the scene. We were like a chain that couldn't break. Every time I said something, he made up something that was really fitting the situation and surprisingly, when he said something, I did the same. Then we paused and he whispered in my ear if I'm okay with singing. And me being filled with confidence, of course I said yes. The piano started playing and then we sang, about the importance of my beautiful hair. The words were not as deep as that of Rudyard Kipling of course but everyone laughed, even some of the improv theater guys that were in the background of the scene started giggling silently. Well, and after the song everyone started applauding and some were screaming, I gave my "barber" a high five and went back to my seat where I received a dozen of more high fives.

This meant a lot to me. Because of the fact that I was bullied a lot for the first four years I came to Vienna, I was really lacking self-confidence. After those four years things started to turn around and I was getting popular amongst my classmates and school in general. But that day really did it for me. As said, I'll always remember it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I can teach you the languages I speak, teach you to play guitar or piano and improv theater of course (lol). I also really like to cook so if you would like me to make something delicious for us it would be a pleasure.

What I would really like to learn is the city I'm visiting, its people and the culture.

What I could share are my travel experiences for example, those are especially entertaining because most of them I gathered when I was a little boy.
