About Me

Hello!

My name is Daniela and I live in Brno and I study Psychology here. I like working with kids and one day I would like to become clinician psychologist. I love to read, go on hikes, get to know new people and travel ofc :). I consider myself to be extroverted, open-minded person and I like to talk about intellectual subjects or just yap (depends on the mood).
My actual life motto is: If we die, we will die, but first we will live (It is a quote by Ygritte from Game of Thrones) and I think it is a good philosophy- it is important to try as many things as possibble because, either way, we are going to die one day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I like travelling and meeting new people and that's the best way of doing it!

Interests

My range of interest is really wide, but I am more like an amateur in all those- it really depend on my current mood, I like to draw, paint, play on piano, socialise or just chill with Netflix. I love hikes and nature and I also like to exercise in a gym or do yoga. I love going to bars :D (I am not an alcoholic, I worked as a waitress for two years and I am interested in mixology and I always like to try some new interesting drink). I always loved theatre and I am part of improvisational theatre group (it started because I wanted to step out of my comfort zone but I really love it now!) and I lead a drama group in children psychiatry hospital.

Music, Movies, and Books

🎵
Hollywood Undead- they have a special place in my heart, I love how they have songs about drugs, alcohol and women like Comin in Hot and then there is something powerful and meaningful like Believe or We Are and you are just listening enjoying the mix of Danny's vocals with rap of J3T (and of course other members)

Three Days Grace- 120% relatable. I am usually listening to it, when I am late and I need to walk fast in order to catch my train and it never failed me.

Joji- his songs are great, I love how he can make such depressive athmosphere with his songs- and I think his two personalities (Pink guy/Filthy Frank and Joji) bears a strong message: that a lot of us is fighting with these two personalities: weird one and a sad one

Arctic Monkeys- Ah, I Wanna Be Yours, I could listen to that one the whole day

Lord Huron- Beautiful Lyrics. Perfect Music. What else to add? It usually happens to me, that I either like the lyrics or the music, but this band perfectly combined it

(There are lot of others: The Kooks, Panic! At the Disco, Dead By April, Nina Nesbitt, Coldplay, Seafret, Billy Barman, Maître Gims...the list goes on)

Books

I really love to read so this is going to be endless :D

Proud Harry Potter nerd

Game of Thrones- I love how GRRM created a whole universe and the characters are so realistic, they are not ideal, they are humans...But (concerning the number of deaths) as was written in Harry Potter: I suffer, but I am happy that I am suffering

Anything from Irvin Yalom - he is a famous American psychiatrist that writes about therapy. He writes beautiful fiction filled with human innermost feelings and how therapy can alleviate those. He usually connects it with philosophy, which is amazing as well!

The Search of Meaning (Viktor Frankl) - a psychiatrist memoir of his survival in concentration camp and his philosophy of finding life’s meaning in every circumstances.

Haruki Murakami - I love his magical realism, unique weirdness, open endings and just how the plot flows.

Hana (from Alena Mornstajnova) - story of three generations that made me cry. It takes place in Czechia in communist regime and in WWII period.

I love non-fiction as well, notably “The Body Keeps The Score”, “Sapiens” trilogy, “Behave” etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to France knowing only some simple words and sentences, spending 2 months there as an au pair, caring about two kids and learning the language along the way.

Doing TMB (Tour de Mont Blanc) while sleeping in a tent and surviving horrible thunderstorms and seeing extraordinary French, Swiss and Italian mountains.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a lot of Slovak tongue twisters and teach you how to cook pirohy, Slovak traditional delicious dish. I worked two years in a bar so I have a lot of knowledge about alcohol and I can mix something :D And I can keep you company, help you with everything you need and we can share our stories of travelling.

(no I won’t do therapy session, don’t ask me that pls I heard it so many times :D)

I love getting to know other cultures, sharing our viewpoints on life and I think CS is the best way of doing that. I believe that every person is unique and everyone could teach me something valuable that could give me a different perspective.
