About Me

/!\ Not hosting at the moment because I’m volunteering and travelling for six months in Asia.

Bonjour,

My name is Tom, I'm a young french teacher looking for international couchsurfing experience after amazing trips with friends and family. I'm tall and slim, green eyed, white skinned... wait, who cares ? Apart from teaching, I'm also an amateur stage actor and tennis / soccer player. Since I finished my studies and got my teaching diploma, I spend more and more time reading litterature and exchanging about cultural subjects. Is it what you call ageing ? Damn ! I'm also using most of my wages to travel around the world (and paying my rent, food, various useful and useless items, drinks, activities from museums to nightclubs...).

2024 Edit : Everything up there is still up to date except that I’m not that young now. Consequences of ageing not only include spending time on museums but also getting white hair and becoming bolder. Hiking with sufficient supply of water too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm open-minded and keen to discover new people and cultures. I'm also trying to give simple things a real look. I want to keep my phone on airplane mode and take some time to appreciate feelings with people and places. Last but not least, I'm also thinking about hosting people in my place but it is actually quite small... So many sentences beginning with I... what about you ?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walk on the Great Wall of China (for hours, harsh sun, without water #dumb). But this is much less difficult and impressive than teaching french history to thirteen years old students. Trust me I’m not famous.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching is my job. When it comes to french culture, it can easily become an hobby. Teaching is sharing with some skills and, more often than not, objectives. Sometimes, you don't need to define methods and objectives. I'd like to share and to learn without unecessary guidelines. Make teaching, learning and sharing human stories, not only objectives reaching tasks. Looks like a political speech... Let’s just have fun !

What I Can Share with Hosts

You'll discover the answer sooner than later. Here is a sample : long stories, short facts, beers, mojitos, smiles, chess games, teacher's touch (you know, this kind of meaningless Je Sais Tout speech in front of monuments and paintings... aright, this is the bad teacher's touch), chocolate cake (oven needed), metaphysical discussions, english mistakes, laughs... Wait, I hate trailers showing everything, how can I write such a nonsense !!
