About Me
Hey there!
My name is Julius, I'm 31 years old and living in Mannheim, Germany.
Right now I'm in between jobs, which is why I have time for another somewhat extended travel. After having been 5 weeks in Vietnam, I am now in China - and I absolutely love it!! However, since I don't speak a word chinese, I miss connecting with locals here apart from the translator-app conversations I had so far. Well, even those were interesting, and ignited my interest in your culture, passions, things that inspire and things that bother you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm quite a novice on Couchsurfing, but had some highly inspiring experiences during my trip through France which were kind of eye-opening to me. To me, it's fascinating that total strangers get to know each other through some internet platform and exchange a level of trust and good-will that is unfortunately quite lacking in day-to-day life. Therefore, engaging in CS and spreading love, trust and good energy just seems to be the right thing to do, especially when there's so much negativity in our society!!
Moreover, I think CS is a great tool for self-development - to get out of the comfort-zone and the own (political/ideological/whatever) bubble to learn and connect to other ways of life.
Interests
There's so much ... Days are too short!!
Love being in the nature, go hiking, camping, having a nice bonfire, doing some out-door cooking. Not too long ago I got introduced into bikepacking, and I absolutely love this style of travel - I never felt as free as on my bike with 2.4 inch tires 😎.
Ohyea, cooking is probably my biggest passion. Well, I prefer eating over cooking. Nevertheless, I can get quite hooked into all kind of culinary stuff - ramen noodle soups, indian/asian/middle-eastern cuisine, spices, fermentation, beer brewing, veganizing typical non-vegan meals, tasting different wines till lips and teeth are all red... Oh yea, and I'm brewing my own beer at home if I find the time to do so.
I'm quite into music. Love going out for concerts (you name it - rock, funk, jazz, Reggae, ska, metal, punk, ...) or raves (techno - prefer rather dark stuff, but also huge fan of the good ol boi69, psy, trance, dnb, wave).
Not the sportiest human being, but still enjoying to go running, kayaking, climbing, hiking, and a nice round of table tennis.
Quite into board / card / interactive games.

What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd love to give you an insight to german culture and share some vegan or vegeterian recipes.
As a stereotypical German, I do of course have the secred knowledge to ferment your own Sauerkraut or brew your own beer. Making the Sauerkraut is rather easy and hazzle-free, if you're interested in beer brewing I could at least teach you the basics, if we could get a hand on the ingredients we could actually try having a brew-day
