Helloo I’m Işılay, originally from Turkey but currently living in Italy.

I love traveling, sometimes a little too much because every place teaches me something new, whether it’s a different way of life, food habits, or just random conversations with strangers that turn into great memories.

I’ve lived in several countries and joined volunteering projects abroad, which is probably why I feel at home pretty quickly in new places. I’m curious by nature, open minded, and usually the type who enjoys long walks around a city, trying local cafes, taking photos, and talking about life at 2 a.m., but I also respect quiet time and personal space.

Before I ever used Couchsurfing, I honestly thought the idea sounded a bit scary. Staying with strangers felt risky, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. But traveling completely changed that perspective for me. I met people who welcomed me into their homes, shared their time, listened to my stories, and trusted me as a guest. Those moments reminded me that there are still incredibly kind people in the world.

Because of them, my travel experiences became so much richer, not just because I saw new places, but because I learned from real people, their lives, their cultures, and their everyday routines. Their advice, their generosity, and their openness turned simple trips into memories that I will always carry with me.

I am grateful to everyone who keeps this community alive and opens their doors to travelers.
