Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in a suburb to Copenhagen.
In 2017 I graduated with a Masters in History from the University of Copenhagen. After that, I worked for 1.5 year as a Project Manager in Balder - a small, high-end travel agency in Copenhagen.
Currently, I work as a teacher in a public school in Copenhagen, where I teach courses in history, politics and academic improvement.
My main historical interest is the Middle East. I have focused on the history of this region through multiple courses during my studies at uni.
I am particularly interested in the social, economic and political history of the early Islamic Caliphates. I wrote about the Cairo-centered Fatimid Caliphate in my master's thesis.
I also serve as the vice chairman of a student-run organisation called NASIM. This is basically a large network of students, professors and others who study the Middle East. We organize different events such as language clubs, film screenings and lectures on this topic, and we have hosted many interesting speakers from around the world.
When I am not teaching or working in NASIM, I like to hang out with friends and family. I have good friends from my university time, and we occasionally meet to dine, go to the cinema or just chill over a coffee.
I also like to do sports. Particularly swimming, skiing, and then I just started playing volleyball. I have been on a swim-team at the University of Copenhagen for a couple of years now, and occasionally play volley or hockey with my colleagues as well.
I don't have to tell how much I like travelling and engage in new cultures. I am quite familiar with Europe and have visited The United States and travelled in the Middle East and Africa. If I had to choose between these regions, I would say the Middle East is my favorite... ;)
I am always up for a good laugh over a coffee/tea and to talk with other people about their interests, hear their views and perspectives, dreams and ambitions.
Looking forward to meet you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
First and foremost because I am going to Egypt soon - for the first time - and would like to meet Egyptians and learn about Egyptian culture.
But definitely also to be able to host guests at my home in Copenhagen, to show them the modern and old parts of Copenhagen ( I have worked as a guide) and let them meet danes and experience danish culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: All kinds of genres, and music from all over the world. I particularly prefer listening to 60s and 70s American soul, but also french and arabic popular music.
Books: Authors I can recommend are J.K. Rowling, Steffan Merrill Block, Amoz Oz, Karen Blixen, Al Aswany, Hemingway.
Movies: Anything from Star Wars to Truffaut.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have experienced quite a few cool things in my life so far, I would say, so hard to chose.
However, becoming the Vice Chairman of the organization that I had admired for many years, is definitely one of the most "amazing things I've done" ;)
