About Me

Shortly - I’m an ENFJ, or as I call it - an ambitious introverted extrovert who’s in love with too many things in this world for which I sadly don't have enough time. I'm friendly and easy to get along with, I hardly ever get involved in conflicts. I value other's needs more than my own and I adjust to new environments easily.
I'm currently a first-year student in Vytautas Magnus University and my major is East Asian cultures and languages. University had exposed me to a very diverse intercultural environment and involvement and volunteering in various activities revolving around my university helped me to encounter many foreign cultures without stepping outside of my country. Mentoring exchange students was actually kind of like hosting them in my country and communicating with all these different cultures helped me to start getting out of my comfort zone.
My hobbies: drawing and painting, listening to music, meeting with friends, watching tv shows, reading books... I have a hard time starting new shows and books and I usually end up rewatching/rereading the same stories (I've seen the whole Avatar: the last Airbender series at least 7 times and it has even become my tradition to rewatch it every year. I guess you could say I'm a big fan :)). I tend to stick to things I know and are safe and it's why I want to travel more and try new things. I need to get myself out of my comfort zone as much as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've slept in hotels, apartments, airbnbs and I've been hosted by my relatives living in foreign countries and I can say that I enjoyed airbnbs with shared space and staying at my relatives homes the most and now I'm willing to try couchsurfing. Hotels are the saddest means of staying in a country and don't let you comprehend a foreign land to its fullest extent. Traveling is much more that visiting popular places, trying out new cuisine or sleeping in the mountains. It's understanding and accepting foreign culture by engaging in local life and getting to know local people, comprehending how these places came to be by understanding the mentality of the people. It's something you can't read in a book or look up on google but can only experience yourself or learn directly from locals. Currently I'm not able to host anyone but I sure will one day!

Music, Movies, and Books

I absolutely love various types of music while my all time favorite bands would include Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons, The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, The Neighbourhood. I also really enjoy older music from 80s,70s, 60s..
As for movies I enjoy watching mind-bending and complex movies and my favorites would be Predestination, Inception, Interstellar, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Mr. Nobody. I don't have much free time to spend on TV shows so I've seen only very few of which my favorites would be Black Mirror and the famous Game of Thrones.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning languages and I can as well teach a bit Lithuanian, Chinese, Japanese or Italian. I'm in the process of learning these languages myself but the secret to excelling at something you're not yet great at isn't just practice but trying to teach it to others :) I'm currently studying East Asian languages and cultures hence I'm innately interested in cultures and their differences, I love talking about them and exchanging knowledge, I'm especially interested in philosophical Daoism and would totally talk about philosophy over a cup of tea. Also, I’m a fan of DIYs and I just innately tend to reuse stuff, most oftenly because I can’t bring myself to throw stuff out or I’m too lazy to buy something new so I guess we could exchange our ideas and practical knowledge about that. Lastly, I can share my secret of how to make a sound with your ear ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can hang out at your favorite local place, play board games (love them immensely), exchange knowledge (which I had mentioned before) or, even though I'm not an excellent cook, we can cook together. Also, since my favorite hobby is drawing, I can exhilarate you by leaving behind a sketch of your beautiful face as a footprint of my stay at your residence.
