Hi! I'm Jana. Originally from Ireland, I settled in Thessaloniki last December after a six month backpacking adventure that took me from France all the way to Greece. After being constantly on the move for most of 2022, I am now just enjoying having a normal life in SKG before I inevitably take off again.
Thessaloniki is a very urban city with not much to offer in terms of nature, but it has great nightlife, restaurants, a huge student population and just great atmosphere in general. One of my favourite things to do here is stroll along the seafront, which stretches kilometre after kilometre and on a clear day you have incredible views of mountains in the distance.
I am quite an introverted, busy, and these days low-energy person, but I am free some afternoons and evenings if you want to have somebody to explore the city with or go to one of SKG's many budget restaurants or lively late bars. If you are a traveller who prefers to explore a place alone that is 100% fine by me, as I am the exact same type of traveller and fully understand. Unfortunately, not being Greek myself, I can't give you an authentic Greek experience, but I can give you a (semi) comfortable stay and some tips on the best places in SKG!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was hosted several times while I was backpacking last year, and now I'd like to host people in return. My apartment is quite small, so I prefer to host for just 1-2 nights, and I prefer to host females or couples. All races and religions welcome, LGBTQ+ safe space!
I have a large couch in my sitting room that can sleep 1 person, or a couple that doesn't mind a bit of a squeeze. I also have an exercise mat for a couple where one person doesn't mind sleeping on the floor. However I don't have a spare duvet, only two rather thin blankets, so it's better if you have a sleeping bag or a warm jumper to sleep in as the nights are still quite cold in SKG. There is a heater in the room and I can turn it on for you before you sleep. The room is separate from my bedroom so you will have privacy to sleep, but I usually use the space to work in the mornings and evenings.
