About Me

Hi! My name is Kristina. I come from Slovakia, and I´ve recently relocated to Mechelen, Belgium; after living in Copenhagen, Denmark for 3 years. The official reason to move countries like this is to study, but it´s more to gather knowledge (about the world and myself) and new experiences. That´s why I like to travel as much as I can as well.
One of my favourite activities is cooking, I can spend hours in the kitchen! I love to connect with people through cooking together or sharing food. I´m also a big coffee and lover.
I´m a bit of a hippie, I spend a lot of time in nature, I tend to walk barefoot, I love gardening, being present, animals, journaling, reading books, doing yoga, buying secondhand .. Mindfulness is a very important aspect for me.
I like to educate myself on all sorts of things about sustainability, consumption, human and animal rights.. I´m all for living a just and sustainable life, but I also accept that there´s only so much I can change as an individual, and respect that everyone is on their own journey which might not correspond with mine.
I like to plan things and have everything under control, but I also tend to be very spontaneous, which is kind of contradicting, but I can usually make these two traits work really good together.
My parents used to take me to concerts and music festivals ever since i was born, and over my teenage years and later I was going to these and other community-connecting events alone or with friends. It´s so fascinating and fulfilling for me.
There is a lot to know about me, as humans are complex, but hey you can get to know me better if we manage to meet up / live together for a few days, right? :))

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and I am genuinely interested in learning about different cultures. That is the best through direct interactions with people and immersing myself in the culture, instead of only observing it externally. I strongly believe there is something I can learn from every person I encounter and every situation I find myself in, so I try to challenge myself and do different kind of things. I love to meet new people and share adventures together!

Music, Movies, and Books

Very wide music taste, love to explore. But some favourites are The 1975, Bring Me The Horizon, Nothing But Thieves.
Although I´m more into series as I can get more into them as the plot uncurls; I also like movies a lot. The last one that left a serious impact on me was Don´t Look Up.
An example of a very good book I´ve read is Pachinko.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to a different country - Denmark, away from everything and everyone I had ever known. It was totally out of my comfort zone and let me tell you, it was terrifying as hell. But I´m very proud of myself and I wouldn´t change a thing. It has opened up so many opportunities for me and it´s let me grow as a person - still is.

Teach, Learn, Share
