What I Can Share with Hosts

We are a group of young Vietnamese adults who wish to improve our English. We are renting a spacious, cozy, and well-located house in Ho Chi Minh City. We are welcoming and friendly people with great enthusiasm for learning English. And we enjoy studying, living and hanging out together. Sadly for us, English teaching in Vietnam state schools is far from sufficient, so we have been looking for better ways to improve our English. This is where you can help!

In Vietnam, learning English has recently become increasingly important, to the point where students decide to study English as a second language. However, studying at schools and learning from textbooks alone are not enough. Many of us have been studying English for a long time, but still are not as fluent as we need or wish to be. Some of us realized that an effective way to reach our intended English level is by actually living in an environment where English is the official language in use daily. This is exactly how we set up our home to be, a place where we study and live with native or fluent English speakers from abroad. As such, we can learn and have classes, engage in daily conversations, use formal and informal kinds of communication, and exchange language and cultural knowledge with fluent English speakers from around the world.

To maintain our ideal English-learning environment, we are constantly looking for suitable volunteers. We are seeking friendly and social native or fluent English speakers. We specifically need our volunteers not only to be able to actively contribute to the development of our English communication skills, but also to be very keen on learning about our own culture, on taking part in the joys of sharing a home, and on spending time together as a group of friends.

What we require from a volunteer:
- native or fluent English level (including clear pronunciation)
- enthusiasm for teaching English and helping others achieve their goals
- friendly, patient, kind and positive attitude
- genuine interest and curiosity about our culture and our individual aspirations
- genuine enthusiasm in getting involved in our social activities
- teaching 3 hrs per day from Monday to Friday

What you can expect from us:
- free accommodation in dorms with students and teachers
- free meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner; including weekends)
- teaching materials
- organized social activities such as cooking together, exploring Ho Chi Minh City, weekend trips to exciting destinations around HCMC
