About Me

I am a classically-trained pianist, traveler, linguist, and aspiring writer. After graduating university, I spent fifteen months living and working around the world. I moved back to the Midwest in December, and while I’m still in this in-between phase of figuring out where I want to go next (typical millennial quarter-life crisis...), I’ll continue to take in and experience as much as I can in the meantime!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, travel is more about the people and the experiences we share more than anything else. I believe everyone has a story to share, and the more I travel, the more I’ve realized how important it is to listen. My favorite people to meet are those who have curious minds with a willingness to become better human beings.

Music, Movies, and Books

For brevity's sake, I’ll present you with three from each category. How much can you tell about a person from the art they like?

[Music]
Sufjan Stevens
Frédéric Chopin
Regina Spektor

[Films]
3 Idiots
Princess Mononoke
El Laberinto del Fauno

[Books]
The Art of Travel (Alain de Botton)
Le Petit Prince (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry)
Blankets (Craig Thompson)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don’t know about amazing, but I’ve definitely had a lot of funny moments while traveling. One time I accidentally climbed up a mountain because I didn’t know we were ascending it. I guess the conversation we were having was just too good...

Teach, Learn, Share

I consider languages to be the gateways to learning about other cultures, and so I constantly invest time into learning them. I’m willing to share my native English with you as well as any of the other languages I’ve studied.

If you have a piano, I would be especially grateful to you, because finding playable pianos in some parts of the world can be difficult. If you also play an instrument or love music, let's make some music or go see a local concert!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can play/teach the piano (and a few other instruments), practice/teach some languages, and attempt to participate in surface-level to deep-end conversations
