I'm Simón, currently traveling through Mexico until november.
I'm from Chile, but I grew up en El Paso, Texas, USA until I was 8 years old. That's why I'm fluent in English and Spanish, and living in the border also made me fascinated with meeting all kinds of different people and different cultures and their stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm interested in this different way of traveling, where I can meet interesting people and get to know the actual local lifestyle instead of just staying in the tipical hotels and artificial places made for tourists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I accidentally found a human femur from Mayan human sacrifices in a cenote in Yucatan 😱
- I was invited by the grandfathers and their group of dancers to the traditional Sun Dances in the top of the mountain in the Calpulli Cuautinchan, in Ocuilan, Mexico State. I participated for 5 days as an asistant while my group and overr 500 dancers from all around Mexico and other parts of the world came to dance to the skies, pray, and fast during the whole 5 day experience. I met different people of various indigenous traditions, and also participated of the rituals by sharing the ceremonial pipe and during the temazcales.

- Me encontré por accidente un fémur humano de los sacrificios Maya en un cenotes en Yucatán 😱
- Fui invitado por los abuelos y su grupo de danzantes a la tradicional Danza del Sol en lo alto de la montaña en el Calpulli Cuautincha,n, que corresponde a Ocuilan, Estado de México. Participé durante 5 días como ayudante, mientras mi grupo y sobre 500 otros danzantes de todo Mexico y otros lugares del mundo vinieron a rezar, danzarle a los cielos, rezar, y ayunar durante todo el encuentro de 5 días. Conocí diversa gente de distintas tradiciones indígenas y también participé de los ritos, pasando la pipa ceremonial y asistiendo a los temazcales.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I really like sharing and listening to stories and getting to know people. I'm also really love to cook, learning new recipies and sharing them with people. I have a very positive attitude when it comes to meeting new people and am willing to help in whatever is necesary. My work experience has been mostly related to tourism and hotel reception in English and Spanish, so if work is needed especially in those areas I'm available.

Me gusta mucho compartir historias y escucharlas y conocer gente nueva de esa forma. También me encanta cocinar, aprender recetas nuevas, y compartir mi cocina con los demás. Tengo muy buena disposición cuando se trata de conocer personas nuevas y estoy dispuesto a ayudar en lo que haga falta. Mi experiencia laboral principalmente ha sido relacionado al turismo y la hotelería, en español e inglés, así que si esos aprendizajes sirven de algo estoy disponible.
