Overview
About Me
I'm a Dutch guy with a benign personality and a happy-go-lucky attitude. I just finished college in Wageningen and I'm looking for a job in a laboratory.
After having done quite a bit of surfing during a long distance walking trip (almost 1000km in 1,5 months) after my study, I feel obligated to do some hosting myself. However, I won't just accept everyone and their mother: Try sending an original request, make it a bit personal, and make sure you have a bit more in your profile than the cliche "I'm open minded and I like traveling". You can do it, I believe in you! Hope to see y'all soon.
PHILOSOPHY
You
Who are on the road
Must have a code
That you can live by
And so
Become yourself
Because the past
Is just a-goodbye
Evaluate your emotions, and find harmony in what you feel and what you think. It will allow you see what is truly important in life and make your own set of rules to live by. It's your responsibility as a human being. In one word, existentialism.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I walked from the North Sea to the Bodensee (Lake Constance) in one and a half month, and during this trip I started to surf. Pleasantly surprised by how well it worked, I met a lot of nice and friendly people this way: it was always much better than staying at campings or hostels. Being back home, I feel morally obliged to do some hosting myself. A bit of karmatic balance, but on the other hand it can be very nice and useful to make friends all over the world: you never know where you might find yourself in the future!
Interests
People tell me I have an old soul: I like a lot of things from before I was born (music, film) and I have an unhurried lifestyle, which is hard to find nowadays :). My study Biology has stirred up my interest in nature, but history also has a special place in my heart.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Italo Disco, Johnny Cash, Vitalic (and much more).
Also Dutch classics from the previous century, especially covers from non-Dutch songs, which includes almost all of them. Seriously, Dutch musicians in the 1900s were master music thieves. They'd pick a mediocre foreign song, slap some Dutch lyrics on it and score a No. 1 hit in the Netherlands.
Books: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas(Thompson), Alice in Wonderland(Carroll), Foundation(Asimov), but also popular historical or scientific non-fiction. And, of course, Tintin and Asterix.
Movies: Network, They Live, The Blues Brothers, Monty Python (especially The Holy Grail), Koyaanisqatsi, Spaghetti Westerns, anything by Kubrick or Tarantino
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've walked from Katwijk to Konstanz, following the Rhine for 1,5 months. I don't want to brag, but I believe that's pretty cool of myself.
Furthermore, I've been in some bizarre situations, but I don't think it would be appropriate to describe here. Ask me in person, I might just tell ;)... Ok, I'll tell you one here. I once acted as a rioter in a riot police exercise. It was a really fun experience disregarding cops while staying completely within the confines of the law, and even being appreciated for it afterwards. Totally worth the nightstick-inflicted bruises.
Teach, Learn, Share
What does this section even mean? Teach and learn what? To whom? I'm confused. Share beer and love, I guess.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook a nutritious and tasty dinner, and my singing voice is quite alright, especially if you get a few drinks into me. Besides that, I have great trivial knowledge on a wide range of topics, so I am likely to tell you something you didn't know yet. And please ask if you want any help with anything: I'm glad to help!
