Hi!
I’m David Bögner. Born and raised in Klagenfurt, Austria 🇦🇹 .
Currently I‘m living in Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹. I’m currently in my Bachelors doing Urban Planning.
In 2017 I was on exchange in Mission, British Colombia, Kanada 🇨🇦 for 6 months and I really have to say that this was the best time of my life. It also changed me as a person so much, because when I went there I was just a little 15 y/o boy, but when I came back I felt so much older and mature. After school I spent a year volunteering at AFS Flanders in Belgium 🇧🇪 taking part in the European Solidarity Corps program. In 2023 I went to Taiwan 🇹🇼 for a semester abroad. My main interests are traveling 🧳 , sports (especially football ⚽), music 🎵 (mostly hip hop) and I also love meeting new people (also part of the yes fam - Seek Discomfort).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a student I’m always kinda short on money, but I still want to do some trips so I try to safe money wherever I can. More importantly though I’m really interested in having the cultural experience. Much rather than going to the main sights that you could also just google I like to live with people to see how life actually works there.

Interests

1. Sports
-Football ⚽️: I have been playing football since I was 6 y/o and I never stopped since. For me football is just a part of my life whether it is playing, supporting or making friends. My favorite league is the Premier League and I‘m a big fan of Manchester City (but I also get along with United fans very well 😉). I made so many friends playing football and I also think that sports is a really good way to connect with people. Other sports I do are:
-Running 🏃‍♂️: I attended a bunch of running events already. My best times are 1:34 for the half marathon and 3:59 for the full marathon. I’d love to do an Ironman in the future as I‘m also into cycling and swimming.
-Basketball 🏀: my group of friends in Austria are partly Basketball players and partly football players so sometimes we play basketball with them so I’m quite decent I would say and it is definitely a lot of fun. I kinda follow the NBA but not really.
-Swimming🏊‍♂️: I’m from a town called Klagenfurt which is next to a very beautiful lake called Wörthersee, where I spend every summer because it’s just so nice that you don’t have to go anywhere else.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music 🎵: as I said hip hop... all kinds but mostly chill hip hop which includes artist such as J. Cole, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Loyle Carner. I mostly listen to English hip hop but there are also some French, German and Albanian songs in my playlist. I also did a couple of freestyles myself but just for me and my friends to listen to... also when there is an opportunity to do perform at karaoke or an open mic I’m mostly down for kind of stuff.

Movies 🎥 : Well, I’m not really into movies, but I really liked the newest Joker movie a lot. My favorite movie is The Gift or Inception.

Books 📚 : not really into reading.

YouTube: I spend a lot of time watching YouTube. My favorite channels atm are Yes Theory (American Group, Videos about getting out of your comfort zone), Bullshit TV (German comedy), Niko Omilana (British comedy), Nigel Sylvester (probably the best filmmaker in the world, just check him out if you don’t know him!!! Especially his Go-series is amazing)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Canada 🇨🇦 : most amazing time of my life as I said. Met a a lot of people who I consider as some of my best friends now although most of them live a couple 1000 km away from me. 🌍

Graduation year: that year was crazy. Had a lot of work to do at school, but me and my friends also made sure to get the best out of our free time. Spontaneous travels to the Czech Republic 🇨🇿, Croatia 🇭🇷 (2x), Italy 🇮🇹 , Germany 🇩🇪 and Greece 🇬🇷 are part of that. Also the summer after 12 years of going to school felt really good. Side note: graduation also went really well 😊

Belgium 🇧🇪 : in my year in Belgium I really got to know the country so well. Understanding the culture, learning the language. Living in a family which I consider my second family.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can for sure cook some very tasty Austrian dish if you would like me to or teach you some real Austrian German!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A lot of stories of my young but already pretty intensive life,
ways of living in my home country (culture , food 🥘 ),
friends say that I definitely bring the vibe to a party, so if you want to go to a party but you don’t know if it’s going to be good I can pretty much guarantee that it’s going to be crazy if you go with me 😜
