About Me

¡Hola! I come from Costa Rica and I'm currently living in Padova until January. I'm studying an Erasmus Mundus Program so the next semester I will move to Belgium and then to Paris. I'm trying to travel Italy the most I can during my free time!

Back in Costa Rica I studied Political Science and worked for almost 3 years in a social program coordinated by the University of Costa Rica. This program works with communities facing environmental conflicts in their territories, more specifically, I worked with peasant families affected by the pineapple monoculture agribusiness.

During my university period I was deeply involved with social movements, specially the students, feminist and environmentalist. I am politically very engaged and have strong beliefs and convictions.

But, in times when I'm not promoting the revolution, I also love to dance, eat and cook delicious foods, drink coffee or wine with interesting conversations, photography, museums, galleries and art performances.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Some friends have told me about their experience with Couchsurfing and how they've met really amazing people. I am really into the idea of travelling as a cultural immersion and this kind of iniciatives are perfect for that: meeting local people, talking the language, getting to know how they live and what they like to do in their neighborhoods and communities. Also, I really love the fact that it is based in solidarity, which is indeed a form of resistance to a livestyle completely centered around profit-making.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach salsa, bachata, merengue and a little bit of bolero. I am more than happy to teach Spanish, English or French.

I am making a big effort to learn Italian, I speak it every chance I have, I'm taking classes, reading books, listening to podcasts and watching movies. It is a beautiful language and I cannot leave Italy without speaking it fluently!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a proud Latina, I'm deeply in love with my roots and the latinamerican culture in general. Our culture is vibrant, very warm and full of flavor, so everywhere I go I try to offer all this to the people I meet.

Countries I’ve Visited

Colombia, Cuba, France, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, United States
