hello!
My name is Halldóra and I am 22 years old. I grew up in a small town by the seaside in Iceland with my parents, three siblings and our dog. My childhood consisted of ambitious crafting and somewhat unsupervised summers, among other things. Over the years I’ve gradually become interested in “alternative” ways of being and doing. I’m quite easy-going, curious, patient and open to almost anything (almost). I'm currently on a little spontaneous fall trip, I began in norther Norway in hopes to make it to Scotland before Christmas - we'll see how it goes!

These days I’m very excited about herbalism, collecting seaweed, ecological philosophy, geology, unschooling ideology and outdoor/cold water swimming. I’ve been vegan since 2016 and try to make it a priority to engage in a continuous conversation (with myself and others) about the intricate and fluid interrelations of humans and the living world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I think it's a great way to meet places through people, and people through places, to hear stories and share moments. This fall I've slowly been moving from northern Norway to Scotland - workaway, staying with friends and hostels, now I think it's time to try some couchsurfing! I hope my lack of references won't be a problem (as it is my first couchsurfing attempt), I'd be happy to answer any questions that might arise!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I really, really like doing puzzles. I have a 1000 piece colour puzzle – each piece has it’s own specific colour shade, then they come together and make a very impressive gradient. With the help of many friends and visitors I finally completed it on the 5th of April 2018 and then managed to hang it vertically from the ceiling. I’ve included a picture in the album for reference; I believe it to be the greatest success of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have basic carpentry skills, know some about seaweed and foraging.

In the nearest future I’d like to learn about permaculture and regenerative growing/cultivation, mushrooms, electricity and perhaps some basic programming.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I really enjoy cooking vegan food and would be more than happy to share a good meal, go for walks or hikes, swim in rivers or lakes!

I'd be happy to share any information about Iceland, if you're interested in travelling there!
