Resumen
Sobre mí
I am 26 and from Scotland. I am a great lover of culture- I have studied art history and filmmaking- and love to travel to discover new culture, history, languages, food, and traditions. I am looking forward in 2024 to do some extended travelling across Europe.
Beginning in March I am setting off from Germany on an adventure across central and south-eastern Europe with the goal of reaching Istanbul. This journey was inspired by the English travel writer Patrick Leigh Fermor, whose route across Europe he walked in the 1930s I will be following to Budapest. I started this adventure in 2020 and managed to walk for 400 miles before coronavirus lockdowns forced me to return to Scotland, so I am very excited to return to Europe and continue 4 years later.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing back in 2020 when I planned to walk across Europe. I only managed 5 weeks that time because of lockdowns but even in that short period I met amazing hosts through Couchsurfing and had experiences I would never have had otherwise. Now I am travelling again I hope I can continue to meet new people and gain perspectives of the places I visit that go deeper than if I only stayed in hostels and saw the tourist sites.

Música, películas y libros
I love music, movies, and books. I enjoy anything from the Rolling Stones to French Chanson, or the swinging tunes of the Rat Pack to classical music- with opera a particular favourite. A wide range of movies is equally as exciting for me, but with so many of the biggest films in English I do try to balance that by making the effort to watch plenty of films not in the English language. With books, I prefer historical and travel non-fiction, but also enjoy the works of writers like Evelyn Waugh and Stefan Zweig. It is the non-fiction account of the writer Patrick Leigh Fermor’s walk across Europe in the early part of the twentieth century that inspired me to quite literally follow in his footsteps.
