About Me

I've always been in love with storytelling and new experiences! That being said, discovering new people around the world could be an awesome opportunity to listen to different stories - and being inspired by them! To describe myself is never easy but I might say that I’m very talkative, open-minded and love to mix deep conversations with some lively debates about Netflix’ shit shows! Of course, I love to make new friends, and I dream about discovering new places as much I can!

I’m currently doing an exchange program in Newcastle, the perfect opportunity to travel, meet locals and listen to new stories!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To discover other people’s cultures and backgrounds - and, of course, make new friends! Locals are always the best guides so I think it’s a good way to have nice tips and company to explore a new city! To meet a “strange” person in a “strange” place may seem crazy but It sounds to me like the best way to have the perfect (and unforgettable!) experience - that’s why I’m trying Couchsurfing! :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've just created my account but I can guarantee that I’m a real (and nice) person! I wanna try new experiences using Couchsurfing, so I would be very grateful if you could host me even though I have no experience. We all gotta start somewhere, right? :) Unfortunately, since I share a really small apartment (just one room) with my two siblings back in Brazil, I have no hosting experience. But, I certainly plan to do it when I move to a bigger place! It will be a pleasure to show my country to new people :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to discover new kinds of music and I’m a very opened-mind person regarding this! I’m in love with some Britpop (we can spend hours listening to Oasis or Blur) and I was a crazy Nirvana fan in my teenage time - I know, I was 20 years late, but I still have Kurt Cobain in my cellphone’s wallpaper! Nowadays I like to listen to some pop and indie songs and try a lot of different genres in festivals! My last concerts were 21 Pilots, Portugal The Man, Arctic Monkeys, and James Blunt. Besides that, my new passion is K-pop! It’s crazy how Korea built a whole global industry with their pop music (even their artist not using a “universal” language like English) and how K-pop is not just music, but a whole new experience with dance, concepts and all pieces of songs! I already saw live big groups (like BTS, GOT7, Seventeen, and Monsta X) and I have no regrets about it!

Regarding movies, I’m very eclectic too, so I love nerd things like Harry Potter or The Lord Of The Rings, and also some cult stuff like Dead Poet Society or The Untouchables. I love animation with all my heart, I can watch all Pixar and Studio Ghibli movies on repeat! And I think it’s funny to watch the whole Award Season, with a lot of new movies to cheer for - and right now I can say that I’m completely obsessed with Parasite!

Books: I love classics, in Brazil, we have a lot of good writers like Machado de Assis or Paulo Coelho. Of course, I like epic sagas like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson and the Olympians too. But, above all that, I’m definitely into comics! Graphic Novels! Mangas! Yes, I’m a little bit nerd, and I will love to talk about Death Note or Haikyuu if you like too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don’t know if it’ll be an incredible thing to you but it is a huge thing for me: I’ve interviewed Erno Rubik - yes, the creator of Rubik’s Cube, and yes, he’s alive - and wrote about a Rubik’s Cube World Championship final!

It was crazy 'cause when I was a kid, I learned to solve a Rubik's cube, with my father's influence. Solving cubes has become a family hobby, and now my father and I managed to assemble several different types – it has also turned into something sentimental to me, so I always take one in my bag. On my first day at my dream internship, a huge Brazilian magazine called Superinteressante, I took a cube to put in my work desk. My boss thought it was a curious interest, and I ended up having a chance to cover the São Paulo qualifier of Rubik's Cube World Cup - and, after, the World final in Boston!

I could spend hours telling this story because it was really I dream come true - and, of course, I can teach how to solve the Rubiks’s Cube! Believe me, it’s not as impossible as it seems like!

Teach, Learn, Share

I definitely wanna grow as much as I can with this experience! Listen to new life stories, exercising my empathy and teach good stuff about my origins could also be a way to share good things around the world :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm sorry, I don't know how to cook complex stuff but I know how to do an awesome brigadeiro (a traditional sweet from Brazil) and I'm a good dishwasher! Of course, I'm completely open to learning how to cook your favorites meals if you want to teach me!

But I promise to share happiness, my culture, and good stories - also how to solve the Rubik's Cube if you want!
