About Me
Only accepting guests who can verify Covid vaccination and identity prior to arrival. Email will be sent to you so you can send a pic of documents if you would like to stay.
Joined Couch Surfing as of 2020 have hosted but disappointed that I have not had anyone respond yay or nay to my hosting requests.. I grew up on a ranch in the Nebraska Sandhills which has been in our family since 1909. I worked 33 years in public libraries and am now a self unemployed librarian who is a community lobbyist / activist in Citizen’s Climate Lobby and my local political party, and other causes worthy of my time. I am working Servas board member / volunteer with US Servas, nonprofit which promotes peace through open doors traveling and hosting with 100 other participating countries, members are interviewed before being accepted. I and my husband are fully vaccinated and have family with health issues but we are open to hosting guests who will verify COVID vaccination and their identity before arrival.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been a Servas host and traveler and board member and wanted to check out how Couch surfing operates both from traveler and host side. I’ve been disappointed in zero response rate to my CS hosting requests thus far but try to respond quickly to requests I receive. I notice many CS profiles have not been active for years.
Interests
I have co-lead workshops on having productive dialogues around race and currently training with Alternatives To Violence Project Omaha to work with returning neighbors on work release from the correctional center . I’m on the Great Plains Black History Museum boards and an active volunteer on several US Servas (traveling and hosting for peace) teams. Having meaningful travel and cultural exchange experiences has been a highlight of my life. The best experiences have been through the nonprofits Servas and New Community Project. My friends consider me to be a good travel companion and I am honored by this. I am taking Ukulele lessons and play with a group of ladies, also sing with the Omaha Folk Song Society.

Music, Movies, and Books
My husband and I attend the Omaha Symphony and Lincoln Association For Traditional Arts concerts. Love, Blues, Bluegrass, most live and local music. I like documentaries especially pertaining to civil rights or about people. I love learning about my local history.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was listening to blues in Sweet Home Blue Chicago back in 2002 when invited to accompany Chicago blues legend, Willie Kent and his band to a
private party in Chicago where they were special guests. A once in a lifetime and very memorable occasion.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a little bit about a lot of things. I love Baking, trying new recipes and foods, Fact Checking, delving into local history, and searching out and collecting books about the Nebraska Sandhills. Sharing food and drinks and hosting is fun. I have an account on iNaturalist to identify plants and animals.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Only accepting guests who can verify Covid vaccination and identity. We have a guest bed room with an attached bathroom. I am a busy person and husband still works but I can generally provide day hosting or places you can go if we need to be out of the house. We have a beautiful little downtown Papillion nearby, breweries, good places to eat, as well as local sites, Omaha Zoo (rated #1 or #2 in nation), Durham Museum, art galleries- Joslyn Art Museum, Kaneko, Bemis, Hot Shops, Boys Town, Malcolm X Memorial Foundation, Great Plains Black History Museum, Fontenelle Forest. We have a cat Snotz.
