About Me

Hey my name is Marten. I'm doing History and Spanish at the Uni Bonn for teaching profession. I guess people would describe me as an easy-going and uncomplicated person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travelling different places from around the world can really help you see things out of different perspectives.

Interests

Doing sports, I have to say that the one which usted to suit me the most was doing racing cycling. I usually do athletic sports in the gym combined with Calisthenics.

Listening to music. I put a little list of my favourite bands further down.
I really like languages, it's definitely a very interesting concept. I am not able to speak many but my goal is it to master three or four and maybe having an adequate knowledge of others.

Having a chat about current topics and situations in the world. But sometimes I just feel like all the political things have a very bad effect on my mood.

I am quite passionate about the football club "HSV", Hamburger Sport Verein, which can be quite shite because they do not play well anymore. But I can't help it because I have an emotional connection to it.

I am also very good at pancakes by the way :D

Music, Movies, and Books

If you want to get a great understanding of what the German society was like between the 1st and 2nd WW and how the Nazis rose to power, I can suggest the books of Volker Kutscher. The first book is called "Der nasse Fisch" and the series' name is "Babylon Berlin". It's a German series and it makes me very nostalgic. So much that I sometimes wished to be a contemporary witness.

A movie which has always make me cry when I was younger was 'the fault in our stars'. The story and the fate of the protagonists is kind of beautiful but very sad at the same time.

I love rock and indie music. Just not really into the Metal genre, couldn't feel it yet.
I'm a big fan of German Punk as well.

Favourite bands/artists: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, The Strokes, Faber, Broilers, Queens of the Stone Age, Wanda, Radiohead, Linkin Park, Led Zeppelin, Feine Sahne Fischfilet, Schmutzki, Kraftklub
