About Me

Hello, I’m Philipp from Germany! I graduated from law school a few months ago, but to be honest, I don’t think I want to be a lawyer. (And my friends agree – they can’t see me doing all that lawyer stuff.) So now I’ve decided to traverse North America with my girlfriend, and try what you all call van life! But hey, it’s always nice to occasionally sleep inside as well as meet new people, so that’s why I’m here! I have enjoyed my time in the US and Canada so far, and have found that when I’m shown around by a Couchsurfer, I gain a much better understanding of a city and its culture, as well as find out where the locals go.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel to see different places and cultures, and make friends all over the world. I love staying in contact with my friends, and Couchsurfing is a great way to meet and make those new friends. The first time I traveled to South America, I promised some new friends that I would return to visit, and was able to keep that promise ten years later! I think it’s important to fill your life with wonderful people, and keep them around.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’ll be honest: I prefer socializing with people, so I don’t listen to lot of music or watch TV or films, and I read waaaayyyy too much in law school, so I need a little more time before I go back to the books. But I’m always keen to discover other people’s favorites! I recently had a host show me the very quotable movie “Beerfest,” and as of this moment, it is my favorite.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made two trips through South and Central America, where I stayed a total of nine months. My trips were full of traveling, social work and reuniting with old friends I met the first time around. South and Central America taught me many great things, but the most important was definitely the power of SHARING! Sharing food, sharing free time, sharing adventures, sharing cultures, sharing languages, sharing houses! Sharing feels so good.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Are you interested in German law? Soccer (we call it football)? German beer and nice pubs? Informations about South America? Languages? Then I’m your man!
Learn: I’m always learning. What can you teach me? So far on this trip I’ve learned a lot of things, for example basic automotive repair but also that black bears are vegetarian. And I’m always trying to improve my English.
Share: See above statement. I love sharing everything!

What I Can Share with Hosts

It’s hard to say, as I am still pretty new to this whole Couchsurfing thing. But what I have learned so far from past hosts is that sharing my culture and stories with others is what Couchsurfing is all about, and as my profile has noted several times, in case you missed it, I LOVE TO SHARE! And once I get back home in Germany, I will be very excited to host you, share, and show you around where I spent my childhood – in the legendary Black Forest!
