🇬🇧 Hi ! I'm Célestine, born and raised in Southern France but also Costa Rica, the Canary Islands and Scotland. I caught the travel bug early on and I haven't been alble to stay still since then. Having completed my master's degree in Art History in Lyon back in September and now that my student days were behind me, I decided to take a leap and go on a little adventure ! I left home early November 2023, hitched a ride across the Atlantic on a catamaran then stayed onboard to explore the Caribbean. I reached Panama and the American continent at the end of February 2024 and started making my way South where the ultimate goal would be to hitchhike a ride to Antarctica.

🇪🇸 ¡ Hola ! Me llamo Célestine, nací en el sur de Francia, pero también viví en Costa Rica, las Islas Canarias y Escocia durante mi infancia. Me enamoré muy pronto de los viajes y desde entonces no he podido quedarme quieta. En septiembre 2023 terminé mi máster en Historia del Arte en Lyon y decidí lanzarme a la aventura. Mi objetivo era Sudamérica, con sus paisajes extraordinarios y la riqueza de su cultura. Salí de Francia en noviembre de 2023 y me embarqué en un viaje en velero de cuatro meses por el Atlántico y el Caribe. Trabajé como tripulante sobre seis veleros diferentes y aprendí y experimenté mucho más de lo que jamás hubiera imaginado. Llegué a Panamá a finales de febrero y, desde entonces, he empezado a bajar lentamente hacia el sur, donde espero encontrar un barco que se dirija a la Antártida.

Interests

🇬🇧 I love doing a lot of things but I especially love doing things outdoor in nature ! Hiking, canyoning, rafting, canoing, sailing, snowboarding, climbing and the list goes on. When I'm in a city, you can usually find me laid down on the grass in a public park reading or looking lovingly at the dogs on a walk with their owners. I also really love to cook and bake, nothing better than everyone gathering around the table for good food and great conversations !

🇪🇸 Me encanta hacer muchas cosas, pero sobre todo me encanta hacer cosas al aire libre, en la naturaleza. Senderismo, barranquismo, rafting, piragüismo, vela, snowboard, escalada y la lista continúa. Cuando estoy en la ciudad, suelo sentarme en la hierba de un parque público a leer o a mirar con cariño a los perros que pasean con sus dueños. También me encanta cocinar y hornear, ¡nada mejor que reunirse todos alrededor de la mesa para disfrutar de una buena comida y de grandes conversaciones!

Music, Movies, and Books

🇬🇧 I will read pretty much anything but my favourite genres are definetly SFF (science-fiction & fantasy), magical realism and historical fiction. I love books that will make me think deeply about topics I've never thoughts about before, like about how octopi see the world around them, and take me places I will never go, like an impoverished abbey in 12th century England. My favourite books are : The Three Body Problem trilogy by Liu Cixin, Pachinko by Min Jin Lee and The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson !

🇪🇸 Leo prácticamente de todo, pero mis géneros favoritos son sin duda la ciencia ficción y la fantasía, el realismo mágico y la ficción histórica. Me encantan los libros que me hacen reflexionar sobre temas en los que nunca antes había pensado, como la forma en que los pulpos ven el mundo, y que me llevan a lugares a los que nunca iré, como una abadía empobrecida de la Inglaterra del siglo XII. Mis libros favoritos son : La trilogía El problema de los tres cuerpos de Liu Cixin, Pachinko de Min Jin Lee y la serie Mistborn de Brandon Sanderson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

🇬🇧 I hitched a boat ride from Martinica and Dominica, woke up at midnight to a big storm and realised that the boat wasn't attached to the buoy anymore and that we were drifting towards shore.

🇪🇸 Después de haber encontrado un barco para llevarme de Martinica hasta Dominica, me despierto a medianoche una gran tormenta y di cuenta de que el barco ya no está sujeto a la boya y que estábamos derivando hacia la costa.
